Post 4.6L V8 supercharger???Is there one out there?

I wanted to know if there is a supercharger for the 4.6L V8. I want to turn my truck into lighting. Any thing would help thanks.
Also does the mustangs 4.6L aftermarket parts interchange with our 4.6L V8?

jlbf-150,
There are several blowers for the 4.6. Paxton, Vortec, Wynjammer, Ford Motorsports (Powerdyne). I only have experience with the Powerdyne and very little at that, I just installed it. It was an easy install, about 4-5 hours and every thing fit well. It is advertised as a 6psi boost unit but I am only getting 4.5-5psi and the next size pulley would spin the blower too fast according to one of the technicians but I'm not done with them yet!!! I am waiting to get my chip back from Superchips so I can get those benifits especially the shifts. On it's own the blower adds quite a bit of power and I hit the rev limiter fast and it falls on its face and it hits 87 mph and falls onits face. I know its improved my quarter mile speed because I was running 84-85mph before and now I hit 87 before the quarter ends. It has a nice quiet whine(internally belt driven)but nothing too noticable, if you want loud whine go with the Voretc it's gear driven.
Later and God Bless!!!!

do a search of Wynjammer's posts. He's done some remarkable things to his truck and it flys.

These guys make a 4.6 liter blower. The cost is $4000+..and the only reason I decided against it !

I was looking at the Powerdyne silent drive system myself, now that they have fixed the problem with internal belt failure. Who did you get your setup from?

WSECTION,
You can only but this blower from a Ford Motorsports dealer and you will find a wide range of prices, I called about 15-20 that I got off the Powerdyne web page. The price ranged from $1995.00-$2895.00. I elected to buy mine from Fairway Sport & Performance in Placentia, CA (714)524-1200 and it was not the $2895.00 price, and there was $30.00 shipping to Kansas. The part number is K10407-101 for the 4.6 kit. I am going to call Powerdyne tommorow to discuss a little advertising problem. They sell the unit as a 6psi unit for the 4.6 F-150 but after you put it on and install a boost gauge you find you have 4.5-5psi at 5200rpm which is where the rev limiter cuts off the gas and after reading some posts from Mike T. that that won't change with my custom programming I am concerned that I will never get away from this problem, I won't know until hopefully tommorow when the chip gets home. Powerdyne told me that the blower won't make 6psi until 6000rpm and my truck won't see that. I know a pulley change can give me more boost but this 6psi kit has the 9psi pulley on it because of being a low rpm engine and the next step is an 11psi pulley and that might put me in dangerous rpm for the blower bearings. I hope to get the answers tommorow. I can't afford to send the chip back for another re-flash to raise the rev limiter unless it's free (how about it Mike T. would it cost?) Anyway I don't want to sound negative, I won't go back!!!!
God Bless!!!!

Chaplain,

You can get Auto Specialties to make you any size of blower pulley you need for what ever boost you want. Custom blower pulleys are really not that expensive either. You can call them at 281 261 8845 or email them at www.aspracing.com

Eaton makes a supercharger that replaces the top half of the intake manifold and sits under the present engine cover.

the Eaton unit is definately a nice unit (roots type blower) but it's gonna be a lot more work to install, and a lot louder. I prefer the inconspicuous centrifugal belt drive type like the Powerdyne. never let them know what they're up against!!!If you like the roots type blower, Allen Engineering makes a pretty sweet one based off an Eaton...check it out http://www.allenengine.com/blowerpge.html

obviously you haven't tried google or any other internet search engine

#1 what type of supercharger do you want?

your best bet is gonna be to find a used one, procharger, vortech, powerdyne, allen all offered or still offer set ups for your truck

Interesting old thread.

Today, I would choose a new or used Procharger or Vortech kit. Paxton never has made a kit for a 4.6 truck and I'm not sure if Powerdyne parts are availabe or if they are still in business.
