#1 what type of supercharger do you want?

your best bet is gonna be to find a used one, procharger, vortech, powerdyne, allen all offered or still offer set ups for your truck
i did try google but couldn't find any for the 1997 4.6, only 1997 5.4, so those brands are good? As for what type it doesn't matter centrifugal or not, whatever is cheaper probably.

[QUOTE=chaplain;29792]jlbf-150,
There are several blowers for the 4.6. Paxton, Vortec, Wynjammer, Ford Motorsports (Powerdyne). I only have experience with the Powerdyne and very little at that, I just installed it. It was an easy install, about 4-5 hours and every thing fit well. It is advertised as a 6psi boost unit but I am only getting 4.5-5psi and the next size pulley would spin the blower too fast according to one of the technicians but I'm not done with them yet!!! I am waiting to get my chip back from Superchips so I can get those benifits especially the shifts. On it's own the blower adds quite a bit of power and I hit the rev limiter fast and it falls on its face and it hits 87 mph and falls onits face. I know its improved my quarter mile speed because I was running 84-85mph before and now I hit 87 before the quarter ends. It has a nice quiet whine(internally belt driven)but nothing too noticable, if you want loud whine go with the Voretc it's gear driven.
Later and God Bless!!!!

Where did you find a supercharger for a 4.6?

I had a Vortec V-2 that I had brought over from a Suburban. There was an issue with a mounting bracket, and piping system, and I went to build my own. Worked very good for the time it was installed. I removed it when gas prices went above $4.00/gal. I may reinstall it, but it is somewhat unnecessary with a family-roller Expedition.
My vote is for the Vortec.

Supercharger for 4.6L

I'm also trying to supercharge my 4.6L. I have a 2009 F150 with the 4.6L and I recently came across an almost new Procharger P-1SC, minus the brackets and tubing. Does anybody have any idea how or if its possible to adapt this procharger to my application? I'm not looking to race, I just want some extra power. Procharger only lists this SC for the 97-2003 4.6L. Is there a difference in the engine from 2003 to 2009? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Yes, there are differences. Do you have the 2 valve or 3 valve?

I'm fairly positive it's the 2V. In the specs there's a decent amount HP difference between the 2V and the 3V. There's no way mine has the HP they're showing for the 3V.

What's the 8th character in your VIN? "W" is 2v, "8" is 3v.
