Help me choose
Personally I'd stick with the f150. The dually sounds cool but will be a pain in the butt parking, especially on college campus. The 350 will cost more to maintain also. Stick with the 150. Its a nice truck anyways. looks better IMO.
Now if you were 10 years older and had use for it , thats a different story, but you aren't

If you get by just fine with a 2wd half ton, why the heck would you even consider a one ton 4x4 dually???
IF you had a trailer worth mentioning behind it (not some ***** trailer) 85 percent of the time then hell yeah I would trade, but Im going to assume that isnt the case just because your 17, in HS, and headed for college-not much time for towing all the time. Im guessing your F150 is a daily driver and your only vehicle, that doesnt see much work???? (please stop me at any time if Im way off base) but if you traded for the F350, you would just be doing the same thing....which is just stupid to do with a one ton 4x4 diesel.
As someone else mentioned, diesels take a decent amount of money to keep maintained, and alot more attention. When your in college its going to hurt draining that money on maintenence items when you might need if for books, tuition, beer, etc. Where in comparision an F150 is pretty cheap and easy to maintain.
Unless you absolutley need if for towing or hauling or something, it seems very very VERY unreasonable to trade your F150 for the 350. Dont trade just becasue the f350 is 'cool'....dont be another one of those 'tuff' guys that drive a heavy duty pickup when they dont work their truck any worse than what a Pontiac Sunfire could handle.

alright guys, the dually is out of the question. The insurance is way too much lol. listen to this. 12k a year for me. haha. Looks like ill be keeping the 150 and putting some more stuff into it.
12k?! How many tickets/accidents do you have on your license? That seems way off. Sure its not 1200?
I have absolutely no accidents and no tickets that went on my record. It is just because i am young. it is 1100 a month.

Welcome to the real world my friend! Now you said, nothing went on your record, so that would mean you've gotten in some accidents or had tickets and were able to get the charges dropped? That's still ridiculous. Even when I was 18 my insurance wasn't but $200/mo and I was driving a turbocharged, manual, red 1990 Plymouth Laser.
By the time I bought my brand new FX4 in 2005 my insurance on it was only $100 a month! It pays not to have any points on your license.
Anyways, I think you'll be better off in the 150 anyways. Any time you have to go into town, or if you go off to college in a city somewhere, you'd be cursing that huge 350. I try and take my wife's car whenever we go downtown anyways!

Did you read the whole thread? How's a 17 year old kid supposed to come up with $1k+ a month for insurance alone??
Duh!

I posted before reading the whole thread, Duh!
How in the hell is insurance $1k anyway? I had a sports car at 16 and my full coverage was like $130 a month. Whatever, sorry to hear that kid. Thanks for being so speedy about hopping on my *** though, ncsu!
