edge problems
After loading level 2 program back in to my truck and changing tire size and speed limiter it had a high idle of 2000 rpm's and wouldn't go down. So I returned to stock again. Tried loading it again and no good. I was wondering if my computer is not really on stock configuration and should I disconnect the battery to wipe out all "left over" programming. I had this problem before and ran on level 0 for a while, than updated my edge and tried it again and level 2 worked fine. I have just updated again to the most recent and will try it again after I finish typing this. I have now updated to the unstable firmware version released on 10/08 and to the calibration version released on 10/24. Hopefully this corrects the problems. Anybody else have this problem and should I try disconnecting the battery so the computer relearns its stock program????
Well so far so good. Started my truck up and all looks well at idle so far. No road test yet, maybe after I write this. Thinking of pulling the pin and going with Troyer tunes because I have heard nothing but good about Troyer and the boys. Will keep everyone posted on the new edge updates as I test the truck out. Why are these edge tunes so tempermental????

Surprisingly, most of the problems have been isolated to firmware issues and the calibrations have actually been fine. Except, of course, for the Level 3 "50 MPH shudder" issue which was a minor calibration issue that was recently resolved. I still have a couple of minor issues floating about, but they appear to be isolated incidents and I expect to have them resolved in short order.
Hope all works well for you now. If not, I am here to help. Take care.

yes i have a question with that why does it shudder on level 3 at about 50mph i currently have it on level 3, it only does it when i hit the gas decent inbetween 1700-2000rpms keep it at 1500-1700 doesnt happen also i cant change my tire size i have a 01 5.4l
can i give u my hex code and see what u can do for me
thanks

There is an update that addresses the tire size problem. See https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=303944
Apply the latest update first and see if that doesn't resolve you problem. Let me know.

Thanks for the the help ASE mech. I am going to test the truck out tomorrow and see the results from the updates I installed. I will post my results after the test run. I don't run level 3 ever, just level 2 with tire size changes and speed limiter changes for now. If all goes well I will make some other changes and see how she responds. I also run Sunoco 93 octane all the time. Will it hurt to bump up the timing on level 2??? I know that the book says .5 for every increase of 1 on the octane. What other levels would be safe to adjust??? It just seems when I mess with these parameters I have problems such as the high idle (2000 rpm's) stated before and the truck seems sluggish and doesn't run right. When I first got the edge almost a year ago it was great and I had no problems. After progamming back to level 0 one day and then trying to program back to one of the other levels my truck would act up as described before. Not quite sure what happened here. So after trying many times to enter a program but failing I would bring the edge in to my computer and reaply an update or update to a newer version and most times problem was solved. Again, I appreciate all your help.

You shouldn't have any problem going with another 2 degrees of timing running 93 octane on the Level 2 program.
The reason for the recent problems with the Evo such as the erratic idling was related to the firmware in the Evo. The custom options would chew up the values entered and cause problems with the idle and shifting. The latest firmware release has addressed all those issues and you should no longer have any of those annoying problems.
Take care.

Thanks ASE Mech. I will be checking out the new tunes today. If all goes well, I will also bump up the timing 1.50 to 2.00 to accommodate the 93 octane and maybe change some WOT shift points and the rev limiter. Will keep you guys posted after I test the truck out today.
WOT shift points:
1-2 5100
2-3 5100
3-4 4850
Rev limiter:
5375

Assuming a ~200 rpm overrun on the shifts, raise the limiter to 5500 or 5600.
This won't damage anything - mine are even higher.... and this is only IMHO of course so if that makes you queasy, certainly leave as-is (except the limiter is still too low given your shift points)....
Yeah, what he said!
I have, however, seen shift overrun carry to 300+ RPM over the 1-2 shift point so make sure to leave enough headroom. Again, if raising the rev is cause for concern, lower the 1-2 until the problem is eliminated. On stock tires I've had to go as low as 5000 RPM on the shift or as high as 5600 on the rev limit to eliminate the problem. I've run revs as high as 5800 RPM, but the power curves really start petering out that high so you want to find a balance that works for you.
Of course, larger tires will significantly change the shift overrun so keep that in mind as well.
Take care.

ASE glad to see all the help you have been providing with these issues. Hope fully if I can get a email back from Edge sometime about my unit I can apply some of the changes and ideas to mine.
Well I took the truck out and she ran great. Ran level 2 and changed the timing, shift points, and rev limit to:
timing-- 1.5
WOT shift--
1-2 5100
2-3 5100
3-4 4950
Rev limit-- 5400
I am glad
to see the updates have helped and that ASE Mech is truly dedicated to helping out people with their concerns and problems. Also like to thank all the other guys and this website for all their help and input. I have really learned alot from all you guys. Keep up the great work.
