Air Raid or AF1 Intake Drone?
Air Raid or AF1 Intake Drone?
I was reading a few posts about intake drone and I am looking for experiences from those who have the Air Raid or the AF1. (The post mentioned the Volant intake???)
I would like to give my truck a little more breathing room, but I am reluctant to add a drone to the cab while driving at freeway speeds. I have the Magna Flow true duals if that enters into the equation. By themselves, the MF mufflers are fairly quiet at normal driving speeds.
Thanks,
KR-Texas

I’ve been using the AF1 on my 04 since 05/11/05 and I don’t have any problem with drone at any rpm. Normal day to day driving you can’t even tell you have it on until you hit the gas, then it does get loud at WOT, but in a good way; sounds awesome. I also have a Magnaflow muffler and Mike’s custom tuning

Hi KR-Texas,
For those who want the best power gains and want the quietest intake in normal driving, i highly recommend the Air Force One- it gains the most power, and there is no "droning" with it. It delivers a much better results than say, the Volant kit, which we have dyno'd numerous times and causes the power to drop off as rpms rise past the torque peak, for example - the Air Force One does not do that.
the Airaid is also a nice intake kit - now it does not make quite as much power as the Air Force One, and there are a couple of situations in which it can make some "intake ,moan," as we call it - for example, cruising at 1800 RPM and then go up a hill where the grade is not steep enough to cause a downshift, then some people feel that the small amount of intake moan under that circumstance is objectionable - I don't' feel that way, but some people do.
Overall, the hot tip is the AF1, as there is no drone, and the only time there is any more sounds is when you are at full-throttle, and then it is not loud, it just sounds very nice, you hear the sounds of a V8 engine gaining rpms nicely, as it should - like vehicles *used* to sound.
I hope that info helps, and we are also having a Group Buy on right now, and included in that Group Buy is a combo deal that features our custom tuning along with the Air Force One intake kit - take a look down in the Group Buy section of these message boards, or just give us a quick call at our number listed below and we'll be happy to get you all the info on that, if you like.
I hope that info helps, & good luck!
