How do I disassemble my drivers door?
How do I disassemble my drivers door?
I figured this would be the best place to ask since most of you have upgraded the speakers? Is the any tricks or will I be able to figure it out?
If you going with 6.5" speakers and I would you'll need to remove the door panel. I can't say for certain the screw sizes are right for the locations but I know you'll need a 5,5.5,6, and 10mm and a 5/16 sockets with a 4"+ extension
There are 2- 6mm screws on the very bottom of the door panel remove those. Then pop the arm rest panel off using a flat tip screwdriver. That's the one with the window and door lock switches on it. Disconnect the electrical plugs and set aside. Then remove the little cover under the door release handle using the flat tip. The screw under the arm rest is a 10mm and the 2 behind the door handle are 5/16. You'll then need pop the speaker cover off to remove the speakers 5.5mm screws. Here you may want to pull out the plastic screw things with needle nose plyers. The panel will come off without removing them but it makes it alot easier to put the panel back on with them out of the way.
You'll want to remove the door panel by lifting the panel straight up. The panel has L shaped catches on it and if you pull out you'll risk breaking them. So lift up then till the panel is free and then pull out. The door handle will need to be popped out of the door panel from the back side. I find using a flat tip to release the catch there helps save a sore thumb.
It's pretty easy 5 screws total in the door and 4 on the speakers, Hope that helps.
Rear doors are pretty much the same except there's no speaker panel and no plastic speaker things (what ever they are called) to get in the way.
