93 f150 fuel filter

Hi,
We have a '93 f150, straight 6cy, auto trans, 2wd. I was going to change the fuel filter, but instead of the little plastic clips, etc, there is a metal crimped on fitting. It looks like I will have to cut the line in front and behind the filter, add some hose, and clamp the new one in. Any advice?

Also, where can I find the fuel pressure switch? On my '89 it was on the firewall.

Thanks

Don't cut it! Just get the proper tool, available at any auto parts store. Here are some pics I took a while back when explaining it to someone else...

This shows the typical connection, and two different tools available to remove the filter:

This shows the safety clip lifted off the connector, and both tools the way they should be put on the line (you only need one tool):

Slide the tool into the connector:

And pull the filter out:

It will probably take some work, but you'll get it. Make sure you have plenty of rags! The test pressure port is on the fuel rail towards the back of the engine, near the firewall. It's just out of sight.

Wow!

Thanks for the detailed (with pics) reply! I will get under there Saturday and work on that. One thing that threw me was the lack of the safety clips. The new filter comes with plastic ones.

Thanks again!
