We'll, haven't owned a half ton for years (had superdutys)..

I'm back in the market for a 150. M-f it's the wife's truck, but the weekends and traveling we share. (My 2wd work truck and vans get me through the week). I'll tow a 4500lb snowmobile trailer in the winter and misc items, mostly under 7k, during the summer.

I've found a 15 plat 5.0 with 3.73s we are interested in at 36k with64k mi on it. Is there anything I should look out for? It will have a Ford warranty to 100k. I feel like the 3.73s kinda make it a rare bird.

Wife wants loaded. New and loaded isn't in the budget.

New xlt sport 2.7 is, but she's not into it because it's missing her creature comforts (memory seats and leather mainly)..

i was definitely impressed with the 2.7, however, the fear is there that I may want to ocassiooccas tow more than the trucks limit.

Opinions?

Last year I bought a 17 F150, Platinum, Screw, 5.0, FX4.
I'll cut to the chase. The two things I never thought about, but have come to be the most desirable and worthwhile features of the truck are:

1. Retractable running boards (they are actually several inches lower than the regular running boards and a natural step up into the cab.)
2. The 36 gallon extended range fuel tank. (no more worrying about gas during storms or shortages. 700 mile range really is great.)

Lots of stuff I really like about the truck, but these two were the biggest surprises that I really can't do without now.

I can certainly see both being important. I noticed the akward step grttget in the 18 xlt, so much so about the 3rd time getting in and out I was skipping using them and sliding on the seat (which we know what that leads to).

I couldn't handle a 23 gallon tank. 36 a must on any, specially since I'm used to the superduty tank.

So I've yet to pull the trigger on the plat. I'm waiting for an answer to see if a couple small issues can be rectified.

In the mean time, I've come across a loaded 15 lariat with the 3.5, 3.55 and Max tow. 45,000 miles as to the plats 64k 5.0. So both trucks put me close to 11k towing ( most I'll tow locally would definitely be under 10). Both right at $36k and both tri coat white (same as my 15 250 lariat ultimate, clearly we have a thing for white).. I've noticed maroon trucks (plat or lariat alike) seem to be a couple Grand cheaper. Weird.

To summarize:
Plat would have 12000 bumper to bumper and up to 100k motor and powertrain.

Lariat would have only the remainder of the factory powertrain warranty.

Both Ford warranties.

Well, here she is (not that many seem to frequent these posts..

My only major bummer is that I didn't realize the cost of towing mirrors. May have held off had I done the research. Loving the truck so far though.

23 gallon should be standard on the Regular Cab and Super Cab

My bad, meant 26. I just meant I didn't want the smaller tank as we do quite a few trips to the UP each winter plus a summer time FL trip.

Those mirrors might be the ticket. However, I'm affraid that running those mirrors with no power to them may throw codes for the blis and the 360 camera. The only ones I've come across that have all the options are over $900 a side.

I didn't think about BLIS or 360 Camera requirements

I think the 2017 super crew had a 23 gallon tank standard and the 36 as optional.
