What is your budget? I know there was a handful of new 2017 F150s on the lot in the Denver area a month ago. I checked out there because my old man is in that area and I could fly out for $75 and drive the truck home.

The dealers and FoMoCo really want to move them and you might be able to snag a new truck for not much more than a used one with considerable more miles on it. I picked up my 250 for the same price as used trucks with 20,000 on them.

I can handle whatever it takes, Wookie. Thanks for the heads up on Denver dealers.

UPDATE: HM Brown broker called today. He had 6 trucks for consideration ... at first. He informed me 2 had hail damage, 2 were 2.7 engines, 1 was Canadian (He says the Canada truck would be just fine, passing all DOT and Colorado regs ... but I wouldn't be able to SELL it. Apparently nobody will buy a Canadian truck in the after market.). The last one was 3.5 and very loaded ... but grey.

Grey is my last color choice. (Race Red or Blue / Green / Ruby Red / Grey.) Since I reminded him I'm not in a rush and willing to wait ... we're waiting a few days or a week to see what else comes along.

I have not updated y'all for a while. (Nothing to tell.)

But today I bought a 2016 XLT. I has just shy of 24,000 miles. Really nice!

Here I go...!

Is it a 2.7 or a 3.5?

Thanks!

It’s a 3.5L Ecoboost XLT — because I do not like leather seats. I’m still getting used to how this truck *thinks* it’s a sports car. These turbos kick-in quickly!

36 Gallon fuel tank, Bluetooth, heated seats (back seats, too — a surprise) Front seat armrest/console (I didn’t know if I wanted bucket front seats or bench. This is a happy medium for me.) cargo lights in the bed.

After market needs: Clear Bra, spray-in bed liner (My son says “Get LineX.”).

X2! It's the best.

File this for reference - change your spark plugs every 40k. They don't last as long as what the book says. The engine is very sensitive to spark plug gap. Also, you should use premium fuel when you tow.

Is "X2" a version of LineX?

"X2" means I fully agree with what I quoted. The next person to agree with it in this thread could say "X3".

Got my Clear Bra on the hood, headlight surrounds, and all four quarter panels. Also got my front two windows tinted to match the factory tint on the rear. (Can't use my front windows for 4 more days.)

Question: Where do I find hardware to mount on the brackets in the truck bed? (Tie downs, Bike clamps, etc.) I don't even know what they're called, so I'm having trouble searching for them. A fellow F150 owner let me take a picture of one of his. I'll attach it.

Okay, I figured out these are BoxLink mounts. But searching on the term gets me only a few accessories. Hey, veterans, what kinds of fittings are available? Where? By now are there after-market fittings bright people have come up with?

I've made it look like "my truck" now. And this time the pic is with the truck in its new natural habitat -- my property. Clear Bra & tinted front windows — to match factory tint on back windows. I can open and close front windows again. (3+ day wait for film to cure. I waited 6 to be sure.) I know the clear bra isn’t visible — but *I* know the paint has protection!

The 6.5' bed on the supercrew was very rare for 2015, since then it's pretty easy to find one. There's 25 of them within 100 miles of me (2018). Now, at the end of the year, finding one in the configuration you want is a different story. But they are out there. You can also sometimes get a dealer to search for you and do a dealer trade.

My 2015 5.0 XLT supercrew 6.5 bed is great, the best truck i've ever owned hands down. I NEEDED to buy when I did in July 2015, and pickings were very slim. I made a couple option compromises too. I really wanted the 34 gallon gas tank and 3.55 locker, but settled for a 3.31 locker and normal gas tank. No regrets. And yes, the extra foot on the bed is invaluable. I go camping quite a bit, have a topper and flat out I could not work without it. Everything fits perfect, with zero spare room.

Don't buy a used ecoboost unless you want to put money into it.
