How is the air conditioning in these newer F150s?

I have a 2004 FX4 with notoriously bad air conditioning (I'm the original owner). Took it in under warranty, but in typical dealer fashion said it was within specs. There are threads that talk about heater core location and heat soak into the ducts. For those that have experienced it, it sucks bad. I remember when i originally took it in, I had a dodge neon rental that iced me out. I told the service guy to come over to this neon rental and feel the a/c and then compare to my truck, but he wasn't having any of it. My truck on max-recirculated, is terrible!

Before I take the plunge into the newer model F150, I wanted to check with you all to see if the newer F150s have fixed the a/c design issue, or is it still not as good in your experience?

I swear I would be pissed if Ford did it to me again.

thanks,

chris

We had plenty of 100+ days last summer and mine always kept up and didn't have to use the fan to even half way (and that's with humid air). And if you get the rear seat air your passengers will be comfortable too.

Can't speak for the 2015+, but the A/C in my 2013 completely sucks. Granted, they could have made improvements with the new generation, but if the A/C in my truck is still no good nearly ten years after yours, that doesn't give me much optimism about it.

My 2016 F-150 will freeze you out whether it's 80 or 100 degrees and I live in Florida.

Sounds like 2 positive responses, hopefully Ford got it right in the latest F150 generation, which is good to hear!

Angry F150 a/c

I have F150 4x4 supercab. At 70,000 mi had to replace A/C coils located behind the dash. Pin hole had developed in the coils and cause coolant to leak. Cost $1500 because the whole dash had to be removed. Very unhappy with my F150 . Will not buy another F 150. CD play jammed and only Ford can install a new one because they have to code it into the truck's computer, had to have 2 spark plugs and coils replaced at 50,000 mi, now the transmission is acting up at 95,000mi

My 2017 regular cab cools down from 100 to 70 in a minute or two. Blows arctic blasts and a much smaller volume of air to manage helps.

My 2015 is significantly better than my 2012, both supercrews. When it hits 110+ here in Az my 2012 never came off the max setting and just couldn't keep up, the 15 gets colder and cools the cab much faster it actually gets turned down in the summer.

It works fine.

Wanted to add that if you are worried about it, the panorama sunroof can cause a little heat soak.

Ecoboost AC Helper

The Ecoboost gets special radiator with computer controlled shutters. In Texas 100 degree weather there is a need to use a thermal conductor like Water Wetter in the coolant. Made a world of difference when I added 24oz (2 bottles) to coolant. Try it, you might like it.

I'd give anything to get my '04's A/C back! 113* in Yuma, Az. pulling a trailer with 5 people in the cab it was 72*...never thought about how hot it was until we climed out at the Yuma Proving Grounds....wow!

My 2014 could use some help....I have learned to simply hit Max AC every time which is better anyway...

My 2013 has had no issues keeping it cold. Tinted windows at the legal limit, I use a sun visor in the windshield when parked, and crack the windows.
