2015 3.5L Non ecoboost engine
3 weeks ago I traded in a 2009 Ford Ranger 2.3/auto on a new 2015 F150 3.5L XL supercab. I am blown away.......the Ranger got 21 mpg overall all the time and my new 150 got 21 mpg on the first tank!
The F150 has a curb weight of 4400 lbs while the Ranger was at 3200 lbs.
The engine idles perfectly smooth and this truck rides real NICE!
It's an XL with manual windows and locks, but this is Florida and the windows are always up and A/C is always on.
For vinyl seats they are very comfortable and for $26000, it seemed too good to pass up.
I have to give non bailout Ford a big thumbs up!
I have only one complaint, this monster doesn't fit in my garage. LOL
It was also nice of Ford the put Michelin tires on these trucks.
I would like to know how others rate their non ecoboost 3.5s.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your new truck.
These newer trucks, even the base models are a far cry over what base model was even in 2009.
Especially engine wise. I've driven some of these newer vehicles that have the smallest engine, and was surprised by the power and efficiency.

This is the first vehicle of any kind where I had to read the manual to figure out the functions. LOL
The tire pressure function is real useful.
The last F150 I owned was a 99 XLT supercab 5.4 and that engine was crammed in there so tight changing the plugs took several hours, this new 3.5L has plenty of room all around it.

3 months ago I traded in my 08 fx2 sport super crew for my 15xlt super cab 5x4, in my opinion the 3.5na would run circles around my old 4.6 v8, so far it seems to be a good little motor. It's definitely no eco boost but it does a good job pushing my 4700lb truck around. The only concern I have is my oil has a faint smell of gas to it but the trucks only got 1700km so idk if it's normal or not from the break in, when I get the rough shift thing fixed I will have that adressed

While shopping for a new truck to replace my 04 4.6 I test drove a NA 3.5 and was impressed. I wouldn't say it ran circles around my 4.6, but it was at least equal and maybe felt a little more powerful. The only reason I didn't buy the 3.5 was that I found a great deal on a 5.0.

Admittedly I do miss the good ol V8 rumble, maybe it's the transmission and reduced weight that makes it feel more peppy, I believe ( I could be wrong lol) my old 4.6 had more ft lbs on the 3.5 but the 3.5 has more hp over the 4.6. If I had plans of ever towing and working the truck and not just using the truck to commute to work and haul some light stuff in the box for time to time I would have stepped up in the motor line up, I test drove the 5.0 and ecos and they were all impressive and fun as hell but totally surpassed my needs
