Second year is always the best. After that they try to find ways to cut costs.

I know on my 08 SR5 tundra it had features you couldn't get in the later years unless you went to a limited or platinum (maybe even some you couldn't get at all anymore). Plus some other drivetrain stuff they had problems with in the later years. I believe the 08 was also faster than later trucks from reading the tests in magazines.

Anyway, I read the 14 GM half ton trucks had tons of issues. Haven't heard anything bad about the 15 F150 yet.

Only thing I don't like about Sync in this truck is that the Nav is time consuming to mess with. Going to get one of those lockpick things that will allow me to use my phone.

The 2004's had brake issues fixed sometime in 2005 (my truck was a late 2005 which did not have the issue), all the 3 valve 5.4's had plug issues until 2008, don't remember any big issues in 2009.

Considering how much focus they have put on this new truck, I don't think the 2016's will be any more reliable.

Plus the entire drivetrain on the "main" engines (5.0 and 3.5eb) are pretty much tried and true by now. Who knows on the wimpy gas 3.5 (no idea why they didn't just continue the 3.7, dumb idea...) and 2.whatever eb
