Double Chirp When Leaving Truck Running With Keys

Asked this earlier, but no one knew an answer: Like most people in cold climates, I will leave the truck running and head inside to do XYZ. Using the keypad, I can lock the truck on the way out and unlock to get back in.

I was wondering if there was a way to disable the double-chirp when the keys leave the cab perimeter and the truck is running. This is very loud and highly annoying. Currently, I leave the keys in the truck and we all can guess what a bad choice that might turn out to be, even with locked doors.

Try this. With the truck running, get out of the truck, place your keyfob at the top of the driver's side door frame when you close door (just press it up against the upper outside door frame - above the keypad). Once you close the door, put the keyfob back in your pocket and walk away. When you walk away the truck will remain running and will not double-honk.

Try it. But I'm not making any guarantees that this will work on a F-150.

It works on the Escape...

Here is a demonstration on the Ford Focus...

Thanks for the video. I tried it about 10 different ways but couldn't get it to work. I didn't try this way however. I will give it a try tomorrow.

WORKS! Haha, I can't repeat my results, but I quickly gave it a try today at the convenience mart and it worked. I tried it again--just not in the same spot, and it didn't work and didn't want to look like a clown in the parking lot so didn't go for a third time.

When I get home and at a place where honking won't bother too many people, I will give it full testing. To make it work, I opened the door, placed the fab immediately above the door frame, held it there while closing the door (awkward position) and walked away without a honk after the door closed. Now I need to figure out how to find the same spot every time without having to do a square dance with the door. I'll post on the other forums too.
