tailgate assist

I'm looking at a tailgate assist. DEE ZEE has one but the Ford part seems to be a much cleaner install behind the tail light. The listing I found just says 2015 -2018 f150. Do all F150's have the post behind the tail light for the shock?

If you're talking about the stake hole, yes all Ford pickups have it.

I just installed the cost effective Dee Zee on a '15. Obviously the Ford version is designed so you do not need to remove the assist when you remove the tailgate. I haven't removed a tailgate in over 20 years, so it doesn't matter. Nor is it difficult to remove the Dee Zee assist.
Simpler install than the Ford version.

Not having to remove it to remove the tailgate is a plus-----if a guy ever removes the tailgate. I never have on any truck. I don't know if I even really want the assist but I believe the Ford unit will be the one if I put one on my truck.

I didn't either, but for the Amazon.com price, I could not pass it up.

Since it's been on for almost two weeks now. Save your money...It takes too long for the gate to lower. The wow factor is over.

Yea, I opened the tailgate last night and thought "I'm not that feeble yet". No offense to anybody that has the assist my point is, I don't think it's worth it for me.
