Stopped by dealer today tech was able to verify issue found a related tsb. Reflashed firmware seems to have resolved 95% percent of the issues still notice a little rough shift from 3rd to 4th and from 7th to 8th.
But nowhere near as bad.

Had the same observation on mine. Took it in for the TSB and most of the issues are gone but not all. Not really happy about it honestly. Curious if the Camaro or 2018 Mustang guys are complaining about their 10 speeds.

Ok, what’s the tsb? This is pretty vague for any of us who might have similar issues. I didn’t see any tsb’s or recalls related to 2018 trucks when I searched. Thanks

I'll have a procharger on a tuned 10R80 in an '18 4wd here shortly (2 weeks or less). I only drove it stock 4 days, but I did notice the mentioned quirks. Mustang boxes are holding fine so far, I'm excited to see how it holds the powerband with boost.

Have a 2018 2.7l and am having the same "clunky" shifts as the OP.

Wasn't too worried about it until yesterday when I had a clunk when I started the truck twice. I was hoping the transmission would learn and smooth out after a few more miles, but now with the clunk at start up I'm not so sure.

It's intermittent as I've already started the truck today and drove it a couple of miles and everything seemed fine.

It doesn't get better. Had my 5.0/10spd for 3400 miles. With the TSB applied its much better but not 100%. Very disappointing and annoying for a $50k truck.Hoping the aftermarket tuning gets rid of it completely given that the Mustangs and Camaros don't seem to be complaining.

I filed a NHTSA complaint .. dealer is stumped ford has no resolution other than reflash Firmware
I am beginning to believe this is going to become a safety issue .
NHTSA ISSUE ID 11072824
Nothing shows yet but i just filed this morning hopefully ford will start to aggressively resolve the issue
I also posted to their twitter account https://twitter.com/FordService

I can think of no logical reason for a 10 speed trans. Or even a 7 speed. 15 years from now when the warranty is long gone and the truck is worth 5K but needs a $5K trans overhaul, there will be a crapton of these in the salvage yards. Reminds me of when Ford really hit it out of the park with those awesome variable venturi carbs.

I have the 2018 F150 XLT Sport and have the same problem. Call two dealers and both told me there are not bulletins or issues. They said I need to get used to the erractic and hard shifting. Ridiculous! It seems like the transmission doesn't know what gear it wants to be in sometimes. Nothing smooth about this.

Also Today went by the dealer they recheck my truck found 2 dead plugs on cylinders 3 and 5 they replaced these 2 plugs so far it has made a big difference
I am going to give it a couple days to get any built up gunk out of those cylinders and then let the dealer know if it helped or not.
