Angry bump, thump or lurch forward on startup

2017 F150 with 3.5 and 10 speed trans with just over 2000 miles. When vehicle is started it seems to lurch forward. Sometimes more noticeable than others. Hard to describe it may feel like a bump or thump just as the tach reaches 1000 rpm. Goes away after startup. Took it to the Ford garage where they say it's normal operation. When they can't figure something out it's always normal operation. Not buying it so I contacted the service manager who says he is reporting to Ford engineers. I offered to start a few trucks on the lot to see if it happens on new trucks, but he didn't take me up on it. I've had many F150's in my life with the 4spd and 6spd transmissions never with this issue. Also have a 2015 5.0 Mustang with a 6spd auto with no issues? Has anyone else seen this issue?

Mine is a 2018 F-150 and I haven't notice that anomaly. I've had several later model Ford F-150 truck and can't say that I've ever had one of mine do that.

Has yours just started that just since colder temperatures have set in?

Have you tried it with and without the A/C or Defroster turned on?

Been there since day one. I've never felt anything like this in any car I have owned.

That's not the issue, it happens right at startup just as the engines rpm's get to 1000.

When you say "it happens right at startup just as the engines rpm's get to 1000", do you mean start it up when it's in Park it lurches?

If so, what happens when you do it in Neutral?**

**Do it in an open area, like an empty parking lot just in case it lurches too much before you can react to shutting it off or hitting the brakes.

If that's the case, I wouldn't use it.

Yes I start in park. I have paid attention lately and started watching the tach to see when it happens and it always seems to be just as the engine fires up and gets to 1000 rpm. The engine gets there in a blink of an eye. Never tried any other gear? Can i ask where are you going with this? What may be the difference starting in neutral? Thanks for the reply.

If it lurches while it is in Park or Neutral, that is classified as a safety defect and should be tended to ASAP.

I agree and I haven't dropped it yet with my local ford garage. I have another test I will run tomorrow. I will try it in neutral and from the passenger seat. I want to see if I can feel it on that side of the truck. Very strange indeed. Thanks for the reply.

I recommend getting a camera, and a piece of chalk, draw a line on the tire and on the pavement, start recording, then start it up. If it moves, discontinue the use of the truck, show the video to the Service Manager and get it fixed at once.

Post it on here, because it will get the eyes of many people -- including Ford Engineers.

It may be something as minor as small transmission adjustment.

You'd hope.

It's a scary thought that the truck moves on it's own when in Park.

Reminds me of the time someone removed the clutch interlock for a remote start system, and they had it in First, and somehow the remote start button got pushed. Scary...

Vehicle repair can be dangerous if you don't take precautions.

Sounds like my 2002 Taurus. It doesn't really lurch, just kind of feels like it wants to go into gear on start up. It's like I can feel the car move just a little, but it is in park and doesn't go into gear.

2017 F150 XLTFX4 3.5 Ecoboost with the exact same issue...Mine started in November when the weather became colder on Vancouver Island. I have about 7000K on my truck.
To top it all off my Sync/Fordpass won't authorize since the new Sync 3 update and app update. Vehicle won't remote start, lock, unlock, etc with phone app.
I'm not the only one with this issue...
https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2018-...96635/index19/

First Ford and I'm not impressed. Other than this I love the truck but am not brand loyal...lol
I'm mechanically, computer and electrically competent and have tried all the online and service call fixes with no luck. Service appointment is booked.
Has anyone else had these issues and I'd especially like to know what the trans fix was.
Thanks in advance.
