Ford's pricing doesn't make sense

This is screwy! I am repairing a damaged 2015 F150. I happen to notice the price [at Tasca] for a 6.5 foot box side is about $350. The price for a 5.5 foot is over $600.

A foot less of aluminum and hundreds of $ more ???

The prices of parts are usually driven by cost of tooling and how many of any particular parts are made. If I where guessing I would say that Ford made more 6.5' box sides. You need to keep in mine these parts are used on 4 different year models. In planning a manufacturer plans far in advance how may parts they're going to make.

When I saw this, I was expecting to see prices on the trucks themselves, which are ridiculous to say the least.

Most buyers want the fanciest truck they can make payments on. Just think about the options that are available now that many want that were unheard of 20 yrs ago. Thai is part of the reason trucks cost so much.

Even without all the fluff, that I wouldn't want, the price is stupid.

Something that may not make good sense is if we knew how much it really cost to build an F-150.
