2015 Rear End Whine

Just wondering if anybody else has had any issues with a rear end whine. I have a 2015 XLT 5.0 4x4 that whines around 45mph with light acceleration. When I take my foot off the gas pedal the whine stops. I've taken it to the dealer and they're going to replace the ring and pinion. I've read horror stories about some trucks that required a whole new rear axle to get rid of the whine. Truck was bought new at the end of November and just rolled over 6k miles. I just got rid of a money pit Chevy and was hoping for a trouble free vehicle, at least for the first 50k miles. I hope this isn't the beginning of other issues.

Except that I have no whine in the rear end (only 2800 miles) Everything about your story is just like mine. Same truck, same month of purchase, same story with my chevy. I hope mine doesn't start doing that a couple thousand miles from now. I learned to hate my Silverado. I really, really want to love this new truck.

Welcome to the forum, kyduck. I wanted to touch base and see how the repair was going. If you need me to step in and assist, just send over your details in a private message. When writing, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

Same problem with whining noise above 40 mph, won't go into all my problems with Ford or the Dealership!!!

1) Dealership service manger that doesn't have my truck in system, to even confirm complains about noise.

2) After firing service manger, 3 months have gone by, truck in to get pinion bearings that of course are on backorder due to 2015 having New Electronic Rear end and when they replaced, noise still there.

3) Back again after Ford sends tools and shims to dealership so they can shim. Noise still there

4) Called Ford because dealership has no clue since they've replaced everything in rear end, i got a case # so the dealership can have a complete new rear end. So, I'm waiting on Ford to come up with a plan!

I hope they found your problem so can maybe figure out what's wrong with this one.

Same rear end whining at 45-57 mph, both steady state and acceleration. 2016 f150 3.5eco, super crew 4x4, electronic locking 3.55. very loud at 55mph. whine stops when decelerating. was very quit until 2100 miles, then suddenly started. dealer will tear down rear axle to try to fix.

2015 F150 XLT 5.0l 4X4 3.31 locker axel

Got the same whine also at 80kph (50mph) and it stops once you get over 90kph
Only whines under load. Let off on the accelerator and it stops right away.

The whine started after 12000km. Its off to the shop tomorrow so we'll see what they can do.

Did anyone that had the ring/pinion gears replaced and did it fix the problem?
