Tail light dismantle and opening mod

Hi, has anybody tried to open their halogen tail light to mod that horrid silver strip that goes around the light?

I cannot seem to find anything online or youtube. Maybe im not using the right words in my search.

You might try looking for posts on "smoked taillights". You have to open them to spray the tint inside.
