My last truck with a 5.4 2V never got better than 11 mpg either (it was also a leveled 2wd on 33s). I loved that truck, but it was a gas hog, and that motor was weak compared to my current little V6, which is averaging 17 mpg.

Of course, I've never given a crap about gas mileage. I've always believed if you want to drive a truck, gas mileage can't be something you're worried about, because it's going to be bad. But that doesn't seem to be the case anymore these days.

I would say a little low. Ha
Had my truck for 5 years. Started out around 16 then with all the mods I seen 18-19. Then once i threw on the 285s i was back to 16-17. Got 17.9 once on a perfect summers day.

5.0 v8 NA 360 hp 400 ftlbs 10,000 lb tow 25 mpg
3.5 v6 EB 400 hp 450 ftlbs 12,000 lb tow 26 mpg

This gives most engines 20%+ mpg improvement with -700 lbs wt loss better aerodynamics and engine refinements...

you do know the 3.7 is rated to pull more than 6000lb has over 300 hp right???? im betting the 3.5 will be 305 hp 285 ish tq(3.7 is 278 I think) and will be up in pulling by a little(truck will weigh less)
as far as mpg take what you have for a truck now(2011-2014) and add 2-3 mpg max) and if you think it will be any better you are just lieing you your self.

New here, read the forums a lot and after reading this had to create an account and chime in.

Here in Canada the ratings are way less realistic than down there in the US. My window sticker claims 9.6 L/100km, or 29 MPG in a 4x4 supercrew with 3.55 gears....but that's imperial MPG, so 24.5 US MPG.

Now our speed limits are a lower than you. The highest speed on a highway around me is 60 mph. The "highway" I take to and from work is 56 mph half way and drops down to 50 mph when you get closer to town. If I cruise at these speeds I can see 25 US MPG on the computers on nice days. Sometimes even higher. But most of the time I don't cruise at these speeds, I'd go insane.

What really kills fuel economy for me and my ecoboost is red lights, and winter. They need to do something about winter MPG with these ecoboosts. In the summer I average 20 US mpg and in the winter I average 16.

I don't think there's any reason the 2015 couldn't achieve 30 mpg on the highway. But, I wonder if the new 3.5 v6 N/A engine will achieve a better rating than the 2.7 eco.

dave are winter gas here in Canada is one big reason for mpg drop. add in idea time and the fact cold air make more power and take more fuel.

dave I live 1.5 hours north of london

Hey everyone. New guy here, and I'm really enjoying the site so far. Not trying to ruffle feathers or get anyone stirred up, but do you guys really think shaving 700 lbs is really going to bump the mileage by 2 mpg? To me, that seems like A LOT. Maybe I'm just pessimistic. Hooking a 6500 lb empty stock trailer behind my '07 V10 only drops the mpg by about 2 something. I know they are 2 different animals, but still.

EPA says shaving 100 lbs from a vehicle will save 1 to 2% in fuel economy.

21 mpg x 7% = 1.5 mpg

21 mpg x 14% = 3 mpg

Average 2 mpg gain.

A 6,500 lb trailer is going to make a bigger difference in a F-150 than a Super Duty, so make reasonable assumptions on what less weight can do for you.

Like I said, I know they are 2 different animals. I'll just put it this way - I'll believe it when I see it.

My 08 4.2 will get 26mpgs at 55mph....my trip to work which is 52 miles round trip i have been getting about 21 to 23mpgs at 65mph. 19 to 21 there and 24 to 26 back. Did the trip twice at 55 and got 26.3 and 24.4. The 24.4 was accelerating kinda hard from 0 to about 45 twice.

Timmy, you sure won't get that kind of gas mileage back in the flatlands - the best mileage I ever got on my 4.2 was between Durango and Colorado Springs via 550, 50, 285, and 24. I got 23.2 on 85 octane and I wasn't exactly babying it.

If I am out in colorado springs for awhile and then go home I usually end up getting about 21 by the time I get home. I will say I never got close to what I've been getting here in PA. I think I was getting 20 or 21 in PA with just the intake. Here I'm getting 22 to 24. And that's usually with a side wind. Going in to the wind it will drop to 16 or so and I don't count the windy days that the wind is at my back. Otherwise my max mpgs would be almost 29 because I had 28.something one day.

Got a new 2013 FX4 Supercrew in Sept, 5 L.
Left Toronto with about 4000miles showing on Jan 29th really bad weather got about 14 mpg until Kentucky went to about 16 mpg, once I got into south Georgia the weather improved, I adveraged about 18 to 19 mpg.
While driving around in south Fla, temp in the low to mid 80's got between 17 to 18.5 City.

On the way back to Toronto in Apr with much better weather I adveraged 20 to 21.5 mpg all the way home, with about 9000 miles on it.

Weather makes a big differance in mpg.

I found that I got better milage without the cruise control and running about 75 to 80 mph, speed limit in most states on Interstate 75 is 70 to 75mph.

Yeah cruise control sucks gas down. My girlfriend's ram was getting 16.5 with cruise....got 18.5 without it. It will slow down 10mph before it downshifts into 2nd gear going up a hill. If I drive the same trip i can keep it from going below 4th. I know it's different because it is a ram and a 4.7l v8 and underpowered but just saying cruise sucks unless you're on level ground.
