2010 fuel door dilemma
 

I have seen the other post on this site regarding fuel doors. My problem is the spring. It became disconnected and fell off while fueling up in Duck, NC. I heard it clink, looked under truck, saw nothing. Looked when we got home to PA next day in case it got hung up in the undercarriage( no time at gas station). Gone.
I wince at having to buy a whole new assembly for $43. I've looked online for a single loop torsion spring. Thought of making one out of large safety pin, like you find on a hunting license holder.
Any thoughts??

Maybe take a look at Tractor supply or a local farm machine store. Simple spring so I too would hate to buy new asm. Be sure to add a cotter pin to plastic pin if you find a spring.

x2 or the Harbour Frought. They have universal spring kits.

Problem solved! Got an original at salvage yard with hinge assembly.
