2009 f150 Cat Question

Hey Guys,

new to the forum so thanks in advance for the help.

2009 f150 Lariat. Cats were plugged so i took them out and put a straight pipe with the o2 sensors in (with the bungs you can buy to block them out so the CEL light doesn't come on)

Question:
Is it safe now (fumes wise) when my wife and kid are around the truck (getting in and out etc) with no cats or is it way more dangerous with more Carbon Monoxide etc. You can tell it does have a stronger exhaust smell now for sure. Should I put some universal cats back in? or should i spend the money on a tune to get the rear O2 sensor tuned out and the truck tuned properly. Both around the same cash 600-700 canadian bucks!

I didn't remove the cats for performance or anything...factory ones up here are like 1500 each!

Thank you so much!

No different than running a lawn mower engine.

As long as you have the exhaust extend PAST the cab you are golden; the further back the better.

Legally, you need cats. Universals will work fine.
