Does this truck exist?
So, it looks as if Ford never made the truck I want. I was hoping that Ford would allow the 6.2 engine to be placed in the heavy duty payload package truck. This is the truck with seven lugs on the wheels instead of six and a higher payload. Since the transmission and bell housing patterns are the same, I’m wondering if anybody with a heavy duty payload truck ever put the 6.2 in it? As a secondary question, I’m wondering if the heavy duty payload package included a slightly thicker frame in addition to heavier springs and seven lugs. Kind of like the 10th generation 7700 pound option had a thicker frame than the regular F1 50 had. Does anybody have these answers? My next purchase is going to be a 2000 1112 or 13 with the 6.2 it. I’d really like to have a heavy duty payload option

Mine is not a 7 lug but has a 15500 pound GCWR and can still pull a 9800 pound trailer or 1677 in the bed. If I needed to haul much more than that I would have gotten the Super Duty.

I should clarify. I am not wanting this truck for maximum payload or pulling, in fact the heaviest thing I ever attached my truck weighs less than 1000 pounds. And I want to use it as a daily driver. Instead I’m after the biggest baseline truck I can get you in a half ton as I want to throw a whopper on top of it and create a bit of a lightning eater
I also want extreme durability to last for a very very long time. I can’t get that when I’ve got a V-6 in twin turbo chargers under the hood are spinning at four and 5000 RPM. |
If you want a 6.2, take whatever you can find.

Mine was as quick as a stock Lightning before I put the shell on it with no Blower, I would look for a SCab 2 wheel drive and go Roush, I have seen a Raptor with the 590 HP Roush kit on it that is pretty quick, could imagine in a 4X2 it would be quicker as long as you had traction.

You can't just drop the 6.2 into any F-150 and go. The steering setup is completely different for that engine than all other F150s. If yer dead set on having the 6.2 take whatever you can find, they're few and far between and almost always in a Lariat or higher trim SuperCrew.
For what it's worth, stock vs stock the EcoBoost will take the 6.2. Throw a tune on the EB and it's not even close. A guy with one learned that the hard way while trying to cut me off... |
That's right - the 6.2 trucks all have conventional hydraulic power steering, all others starting in 2011 have electric.
In 2011 and 2012, the 6.2 was only available in the Lariat, Platinum, H-D, and Raptor. In 2013 it was expanded to the XLT and FX2/FX4. |

Mine is also from Canada so the thing that might throw off the options could be the block heater :whistle: |
