Where is vaccum solenoid?
09' F150 STX 4.6L 3V. Have seen some videos describing solenoid as being on back firewall either on passenger side or driver side? Cant find it in either location. Just replaced a different sensor that was in a totally different location too. Seems like 09 is a bit different.

Loud ratcheting clicking noise
When I engage the four wheel drive and am going around a turn I hear a load ratcheting type clicking noise. Some sources say this is typical when turning tight in 4x4. But I don't remember it before and Uncles truck doesn't do it. Sound goes away when going straight. There are no noises when in 4x2 that would indicate that the 4x4 is trying to engage. At 125000mi is there maintenance that should be done to system?

Had same problem...everyone would say its on passenger side or drivers side...turned out to be in front of truck..on side of radiator passenger side. you wont be able to use the 'cover' since the 'cover' wont fit in that area.
2009 f150 fx4. Dealing with IWE grinding noise myself. I also started with solenoid replacement and check valve.
