Hmm - I just adjusted the private party book for that mileage and the dealer's zip code - in "good" condition it's $27400.

I would be very suspicious - I'd get it gone over with a fine tooth comb, so to speak. One thing I noticed - it has a Class IV trailer package with 3.73 gears, that says "max tow" to me. It may have been abused with a big trailer. Any warranty offered?

I learned the hard way that paying more for a clean well maintained vehicle will save you money and lots of aggravation in the long run.

I'm not saying that this truck isn't clean and well maintained. That will have to be your determination.

In general I wouldn't have a problem with a truck like this.

On this one I would go over it pretty close to look for damage. The seams on theses trucks are very straight from the factory. If they aren't straight then it's been wrecked and probably not put back together right.

See if you can get a Carfax and an OASIS report on it.

Well went to have a look. Advised by the salesman the vehicle is being returned to the place they bought it as it is in need of several thousands of dollars in repairs. He would not reveal what it needed. The vehicle was drivers side up to a fence, so could not look at that side. Passenger side: rear wheel lug split, noticed new calipers front and rear.
On the plus side, it was a good experience for my son. He learned you can’t always believe what you read.
Thanks to all for the advice and sharing knowledge!

car fax was clean. I think you were correct on the towing use. Cosmetically it looked ok. The used car dealer was sending it back to the auctioneer, so they said, because it was not mechanically fit.

There had to be a reason it came from an auction. Most dealers keep decent tradeins and send the dogs to the auction.
