Rear axle bearings

Im replacing my axle bearings and seals on rear of 2010 f150 while I change diff bearings. The inner axle has some pitting/scratches where the bearing seats. Is this a huge issue? Should I run some 320 grit sandpaper on there? Axle shafts look ok. You can see in the pics there is some damage to the raised portion where the bearing seats. Will I be ok?

not sure how this happened, I assume it was from a previous owner banging in the bearings at an angle.

I'd get my air die grinder in there and use a fine grit flap wheel and slightly clean it up. Just slightly.

Should be okay if the bearings have a good press fit.

Yep, much better! It'll never be perfect, and this isn't a NASA or aircraft project, lol.

I just worked on some knuckles that were in worse shape on a Toyota the other day. I cleaned them up and used my 50 ton press to pop new bearings in to reload the knuckles.

I appreciate the reply! I was able to hammer in the new bearings and seals no problem. Seated fine. I should have said these are rear axle bearings, not front wheel bearings. Thx again.
