Safelite Windshield Replacement

Had them come out and replace it today. Got some pics. The guys name is Phillip and was cool as hell. He had no problem with pics either. No review yet since he just left but I will post back here in a few days.

The crack. This is where it started. it goes across to the middle of the drivers line of sight and then down towards bottom. I wasn't going to worry with it but it was distorting my vision and I almost hit a car a few weeks ago due to the distortion of distance the crack caused. $490 total cost

Glad my comprehensive is zero deductible...my last 3 windshields were no charge. Looks like they did a good job on yours.

I have a $50 deductible but if they can repair it (small crack that first started) it is free (to me) through my insurance. I found if you park the vehicle right away when a crack appears they were able to make the repair as it didn't spider out.

He did. He worked like a pro. My deductible is $500 so it was no help and I called my insurance first so not like I could change the deductible and then claim it. lol

The new glass isn't as "wavy" as the old, if that makes sense.

Wish mine had just been a chip. I woke up one morning to a 2 foot crack after it got cold one night.

I've got the Sound Screen windshield on my Platinum...guess that's a few more hundred if mine gets cracked! Only one chip on mine so far and that was last week driving into Houston on I-10.

Mine has the SoundStage. Not sure if that is the same thing.

OEM glass or aftermarket?

Blue150 06-06-2016 03:57 PM

OEM. Will go with aftermarket if it happens again though.

But it doesn't say F150 on the mirror center section of the glass?

The one I have now does but the aftermarket just has the tinting along the top, but no Ford or F-150 with the dots. The guy told me that was the only difference other than being thicker glass than OEM.

Going to a $100 deductible isn't much more expensive, FYI

I'm glad to see someone happy with Safelite here. I've had several windshields replaced by them on my previous vehicles, and have had NO complaints at all. Some, I had done in their shop, others were done outside my garage at home. In all cases, the work was professionally done and cleanup afterwards was perfect.

Since my insurance includes "glass" coverage, it didn't cost me anything either.

Just found out today that in Texas, no separate glass deductible. Its all included in Comp. Sucks. And I can't afford to put my Comp at $100. Not with adding a 26 year old daughter to my policy next month. My insurance is already going to double just adding her and her car. Of course, the ex-wife will be covering half her insurance. I wonder if she would notice if she was paying half my new deductible? :D

I'll admit, I was hesitant after reading on here but I have no regrets. The tech told me you gotta be careful who you get to replace it. He said "Some of these cats are just too damn stupid and take short cuts." lol Said the call he did before mine was a warranty replacement on a Mercedes. I was worried mine would end up crooked or something but our trucks have tabs to keep the windshield level and even.

I would use them again and I would probably request this guy be the man for the job. He was the kind of person you WANT doing your job.
