Safelite Windshield Replacement
Had them come out and replace it today. Got some pics. The guys name is Phillip and was cool as hell. He had no problem with pics either. No review yet since he just left but I will post back here in a few days.
Safelite Repair! Safelite Replace! http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...eld/glass9.jpg The crack. This is where it started. it goes across to the middle of the drivers line of sight and then down towards bottom. I wasn't going to worry with it but it was distorting my vision and I almost hit a car a few weeks ago due to the distortion of distance the crack caused. $490 total cost http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...eld/glass1.jpg http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...eld/glass2.jpg Breaking the seal http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...eld/glass6.jpg Cleaning off the old seal http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...ld/glass10.jpg New glass http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...eld/glass8.jpg Cleaned up and new sealant put down http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...eld/glass5.jpg Wrapping it up http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...eld/glass7.jpg Glass cleaned and all done! http://www.thepistoldepot.com/mypics...ld/glass11.jpg |
Glad my comprehensive is zero deductible...my last 3 windshields were no charge. Looks like they did a good job on yours.

The new glass isn't as "wavy" as the old, if that makes sense. |

I have a $50 deductible but if they can repair it (small crack that first started) it is free (to me) through my insurance. I found if you park the vehicle right away when a crack appears they were able to make the repair as it didn't spider out.

I've got the Sound Screen windshield on my Platinum...guess that's a few more hundred if mine gets cracked! Only one chip on mine so far and that was last week driving into Houston on I-10.

Mine has the SoundStage. Not sure if that is the same thing.

OEM glass or aftermarket?
|
OEM. Will go with aftermarket if it happens again though.

But it doesn't say F150 on the mirror center section of the glass?

He did. He worked like a pro. My deductible is $500 so it was no help and I called my insurance first so not like I could change the deductible and then claim it. lol

I'm glad to see someone happy with Safelite here. I've had several windshields replaced by them on my previous vehicles, and have had NO complaints at all. Some, I had done in their shop, others were done outside my garage at home. In all cases, the work was professionally done and cleanup afterwards was perfect.
Since my insurance includes "glass" coverage, it didn't cost me anything either. - Jack |

Going to a $100 deductible isn't much more expensive, FYI
