100,000 miles service

 Hi there! I want to make a full and deep maintenance at 100,000 miles mark. What does you think is a good idea to add to the FOMOCO schedule maintenance?

By the way, most of the times when I select 4X4 the 4X4 fault message appears. The 4X4 don't engage.

Thanks for your recommendations!

How long or how many miles are you wanting to own this truck?

ajsturtz 05-22-2015 12:17 PM

I should elaborate why I'm asking:

If you are intending to run this to 250k+ miles, do a deep 100k maintenance. If you are planning on unloading the truck before 175k, I would skip a lot of the 100k maintenance.

Differentials are good until 150k+, transfer case too. Many things like that can be ignored if you are dumping the truck in the next 50k miles...

Hi ajsturtz! Thanks for your reply. I keep my last 5.4L 2010 until 200,000+ miles. As trucks are now way to expensive I plan to keep until 300,000+ miles. :)

I would bleed all fluids throughout and top off with fresh OEM Motorcraft fluids. Every fluid and oil in the truck. New belt, MAF sensor cleaning, throttle body cleaning, maybe do a few fuel tanks of techron fuel cleaner to break down carbon build up.

I agree with Darren's comments. For a 300k mile goal, it does pay to do the fluids and preventative maintenance.

I run 200k in about 5 years, so other than engine oil and topping off fluids, I rarely change brake fluid, coolant, etc... It just adds to my cost per mile of operation. If I were holding the vehicle for a lot longer I'd change fluids too...

The BG services are a good idea if you are shooting for maximum mileage.
