Tire and wheel upgrade

I recently decided to spruce up my 2012 FX4. Going with the Rancho quick lift leveling kit, and adding a set of 33" Toyo Open Country M/T mounted on 17" Method wheels.

Question is, how will this affect my drive (i.e. shift points and gearing). Some people say it mess up the trans because your moving a heavier tire?

I have the Eco-boost with the 3.73 rear end. Also anyone ever used the Rancho quick lift. Seems like an easy install.

going to a 33" tire won't mess things up. the only thing you'll notice is that your speedometer will read slower than you're actually going, and that your odometer will actually register slower as well.

as a result, the gas mileage gauge on your dash will not be accurate, it'll be lower than what you're actually getting, unless you go ahead and get a programmer and reprogram for the new tire size. it won't be a huge difference, but you're going to lose fuel economy by putting bigger, wider, and heavier tires on, anyway.

regarding the lift, the quicklift loaded are the easiest you can get, no having to disassemble / reassemble your struts. however, the regular quicklift is pretty easy, if you're comfortable compressing your springs and disassembling your struts.

Installed the lift last week, and plan on mounting the wheels and tires next week. Once completed I will add the pics!

I used the Rancho Quick lift leveling kit. It raised the front end 2". I have the 33" tires on now, with no rubbing or any trim work.

Threads like this make me wish I had gotten a FX4. Looks good man, well done. Love the tread pattern of the Toyo's.
