Having picked up my newly-purchased '14 SuperCab from the dealer to fix a rattle in the driver-side half-door, the rattle is still there though not as bad. As far as I can tell it is at the top latch.

Realizing that the half-door doesn't have a pillar/post to anchor on, is the rattle something I should live with? Is this not an uncommon problem with the SuperCab? Do other SuperCab owners have the same problem and can it be cured?

 

Hi Gord. After owning two scabs I learned that annoying rattle is from an incomplete latch at the top. When you shut the rear doors shut them hard and from the top. If you close them gently and pull on them you'll notice they separate at the top.

Because of the rattle, I'm wondering if I made a mistake and not getting another SuperCrew.
I also surprised at the lack of response to my question. Either we don't have many SuperCab owners or they don't have a problem with the doors.

Sounds like the dealer is your best bet.

 

After adding a 6" BDS to my '09 Scab I started to notice that if I didn't slam the doors hard I would hear some rattling on rough roads. I'm not sure if its the stiffer shocks or what, but it didn't rattle with the level kit before this.

 

I have a rattle on my 07 real bad

After owning 5 SuperCabs, a 2000, (2) 2003's. a 2006 and now a 2013 Lariat. I can say that every one of them would rattle if you didn't slam the doors hard! Just close them really hard and you shouldn't hear any rattles. I personally would stay away from the dealer as this is a common thing and they will probably just make it worse.

 

2010 Scab, 118,000 miles...No rattle on mine.
Guess I know how to shut them.

 

That sucks to hear, as I've been looking at a 14' FX4 supercab as my next truck. When I look at it this weekend I will double check when I shut the doors. I know on my last truck, gmc sierra ext cab sometimes if I didn't close it hard enough I would get a slight rattle or air noise, then I would just slam it harder, well right before I sold it I slammed it too hard and the door was stuck, never did figure it out and the guy that bought it didn't care and was going to try to fix it himself.

 

No rattles on my 13 SuperCab.. I don't have to slam the doors or anything.. Just normal open and close..

No rattle on my 97 SuperCab either... It only had the passenger opening door, but it never rattled..

I don't think it's "normal" at all... Probably just some adjustment to the latch or something??
