Warranty and paint defects?
 

Ok so I gave my newly purchased used truck a very detailed wash the other day. To make a long story short I washed over what at first I thought were blemishes in the clear coat. The more I looked at it, the more I realized that they were actually pin size holes in the paint. Some of these holes have bubbles next to them. I immediately read through my owners guide on the warranty, and I believe if what I am seeing is paint corrosion, that it should be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty which is 3 years/36k miles. Right now my truck is at 35869. I have some pics that I took to post. Am I being too OCD over this? I'm just worried these little specs could lead to bigger issues down the road. This is of course if the dealership will even warranty this.

Factory paint warranty is 1yr 12k IIRC

Thank you for your reply Patman. You would be correct in that paint warranty is 1yr/12k miles, but I came across this article in my warranty manual I posted below that states the 1yr/12k warranty is coverage for environmental fall out. The article states coverage for corrosion during normal use due to manufacturing defect in factory supplied materials and workmanship. This coverage is 5 years unlimited mileage, which is listed under the bumper to bumper 3yr/36k warranty. In pic 3 and 4 above you can see bubbling under the paint well away from the pin holes. I'm thinking I may be able to push this issue. Just getting some opinions.

My March 2014 built F150 has one of these black chunks in the paint too. The installer of 3M clear film found it. Since there was only one, I had them proceed. Please keep this thread posted on what happens.

Absolutely man, I made an appointment tomorrow.

I had some bubbles in the base coat of my 2011 SCab. I took it to the dealer, and had it repaired under warranty.

Update: Ok so I went in this morning and talked to the head man over the body shop at my dealership. He asked me how long I have owned the truck and I told him today was my 25th day of ownership. He looked at me and said ok he wants to keep me happy and satisfied with them. He stated he would be out all next week and that I needed to call two weeks from today and they would set me up and should be a couple days to prep, prime and repaint it, and I will have my truck back. I'm most definitely happy with that.

Yea i'm very pleased. I mean no hassle and no hesitation, "we'll take care of you" :-). I have bought a couple vehicles from there over the years and I think they will be my stop and shop for all future fords as well.

I had some paint imperfections on my truck when I took posession of it. A couple spots looked like a grain of sand got stuck under the paint and two little spots on my tailgate looked like it had a tiny bubble that burst. After talking to the dealer I just got the gut feeling that having them trying to fix it would cause more harm than good so I decided to just leave as is.

I am always afraid that these local patches of sanding and repaint will break the concistency in the factory paint texture. I.e. those sections looking much smoother than the rest of the paint or perhaps more dimpled.

But in any case, I hope it will work out for you.
