Getting close to replacing my 09. What's the highest mileage Eco-Boost out there?
 

I haven't followed the trials and tribulations of the V-6 too much and have several friends telling me stay away.

Curious to see what those who are more informed have to say.

Intercooler and plug gap are two main ones.. If you get one change the plugs and regap them..

Nothing you can do about the intercooler other than ask the previous owner if it has the TSB fix.. If you don't live in a humid area or really wet area you should be fine..

I honestly don't have one but I wouldn't buy a truck just because it had an ecoboost in it..

Try a search on here. You'll find many threads about it..

'11 Eco here. Never had a problem with it. Only a warped door handle trim. Getting 12-13 around town, but I get into it often. On the highway, I have 26 mpg and usually 23-25. It is better using cruise control.......Runs like a raped ape and pulls like an ox.

Mine is an 11. 27k miles on it. Only issue so far is a bad coil about 5000 miles ago. Mpg's are not as good as Aussie, but decent. I have a 16.2 mpg average for the life of the truck, not bad considering I live in Wisconsin, idle a bunch during winter, and run short trips pretty much every day, my work commute is 9 miles 1 way, which is barely enough time for the truck to warm up.

Don't purchase a truck based on mpg alone. Each vehicle is going to get different numbers based on the drivers right foot, quality of fuel, gear ratio, tow weight, and environmental conditions.

And, don't count out the 5.0L V8, unless you plan on towing maximum loads all the time. I see a lot of people using half ton trucks, to haul loads, that I guarantee are above the tow rating of their vehicle.

Test drive a few trucks, then evaluate the trucks on your needs vs. the price of the truck. There are still a few 2013's on the lots in my locale, but they are asking MSRP for them. Which is nuts, because the 2014's are a few vehicles down from them.

They're practically givin' 'em away here. Actually, my suggestion was gonna be to look fer a steal on a '13. Couple fellers 'around here of late have gotten fantastic deals on leftovers.

Maybe it's a regional thing with the pricing. :think:

I have almost 59,000 on mine now and have had 0 problems with the engine. I've seen a similar thread on another forum and several of the guys there had 150,000+ on their trucks.

I concur with Dewser as I'm one who picked up a new 13 Eco for a decent price ($33k) when the 14's were several thousand more.. I've only got around 1500 miles on mine so far, but it's a blast to drive and can't wait to tow with it!

I had a 97 F150 with the 5.4 in it and that was a first year model year with that engine and it carried me to over 255,000 miles and was still running great when I traded it for the 13.

Anyway, only time will tell, but so far I'm a happy Eco owner.. :)

Ford should be approaching 1,000,000 F-150 EB engines in the field in the next year, I would consider that a good vote of confidence. The 2014's and 2015's should have the bugs worked out and be bullet proof!

I was shocked as well, when I saw a dealer website in my area, it mentioned something like: New vehicle prices are MSRP!

And, the new 2013 prices were not much less than the new 2014 prices.

Ok, their current special price on a 2013 Limited, MSRP $54,485, special sale price $54,485. Not all 2013's on their lot are specially priced. So, a volume dealer is the place to go. And yes, $54,485 is the special price.

Which dealer was that?

I worked for a company in TX years ago and they bought us trucks.

I have seen much better pricing in TX than locally. But then again some of the TX dealers have 500+ F-150's on the lot!

And Ford is offering 0%, 60 month financing on the 13's. Wow!!

Uhh they aren't gonna sell crap. We're getting anywhere from 8-14k off, and have been for a while here in TX.
