Ford Remote Start....(4 chirps and no start)
I have the dealer installed 6 button fob remote start which worked perfectly until yesterday. It won't start and signals 4 chirps instead, the owner's manual trouble shooting says "TACH not programmed-see dealer".
Any way I can address this myself (I loath going to the dealer)?
thx all.

Unfortunately I'm over the 3 year/60,000k warranty coverage so the dealer wants $105.00 just for a diagnostic of the remote start. I roll play the scenario in my head and it makes me crazy.
I have the wiring diagram and know the location of the correct wire harness, pin# and wire color so is there anything I can try on my own?

Ran an experiment by manually starting the ignition with the key then pushed the start button on the fobe and removed the key. The engined continued running, as it should. I then opened and shut the door and pushed the start button again, this turned off the ignition as it should.
This didn't solve the original no start issue however now there are only 3 chirps (4 chirps when problem first began). According to the manual 3 beeps is:
"One of the vehicle DOORS are open"
I checked them all out and they we're shut. Attempted this proceedure several times with the same results.

While its attempting to start, does the light on top of your DASH (RED Light) flash? If it does then you will need to take it in to get the immobilizer bypass reprogrammed.
Unless you have access to this bypass module I could step you through it, otherwise just take it in where you got it installed - should be covered

Ricco,
It appears the RED light in the instrument panel continues to blind when attempting to remote start. Dealer tells me it has past its warranty period which is kind of what I wanted to hear because I hate going to the dealer and this is now justification to try and fix it (I know, I know there's something wrong with me).
What is my first baby step to reprogramme the bypass?

Not sure if this will help. A couple weeks ago, I pulled the latch to open my hood. Got out of the truck and got side-tracked and never closed my hood. Went to use the remote start and all it did was honk and flash my lights a couple times. Couldn't figure it out. Just happened to walk in front of the truck and noticed I left the hood popped. Closed it, and the remote start worked. Guess there is a built in safety feature for when the hood is up.

I had already checked the hood several times but the issue still persists and actually I could not find a hood pin or mercury level anywhere.
Posted the following on another site but have yet to receive any confirmation:
It appears the problem may be the immobilized bypass needs to be reprogrammed but not sure if this is the proper procedure:
•key on (and engine running?)
•press OVERRIDE button 10 seconds until 3 chirps/3 light flashes
•release OVERRIDE button
•press and release OVERRIDE button 1 time (4 chirps/4 light flashes). System now in Bank 1 options.
•press PANIC button 3 times (3 chirps/3 light flashes). System now at option 3 "TACH LEARN"
•press and hold brake pedal
•press LOCK button
•wait for some kind of indication the Tach Signal has been learned??
•press OVERRIDE button 1 time
•release brake pedal
If someone can confirm that first before I go ahead and mess things up even further, this problem is getting under my skin
Oh yea and when it says "key in the on/run position" is the engine on or not?
thx all.

I had weird problems with my FOB and remote start. Pulled apart my FOB. Found some kind of liquid got into it. Pulled the battery, wiped it and the gasket and the circuit board down to dry it all out, put the battery back, put the little gasket back, snapped it all together, and everything works fine again.
Might want to check that out.
