2010 4wd front hub/bearing replacement

Any words of wisdom? Getting ready to order a pair of these from Rockauto.

Directions I got from fordservicetech says to replace the halfshaft nut, caliber bolts and the hub bolts. Does this sound correct?

On the nut they are usually locknuts and they loose some of their locking ability after one use so that makes sense.

As for the hub bolts, they might be torque to yield or they are tightened beyond the point of reuse. So I would replace them.

The caliper pins, if they are not rusted and pitted and the caliper moves freely you can reuse them.

Look for videos on you tube. I recently saw a really great video showing how to replace the bearing hub.

Completed this on saturday. 3.5 hours to replace both front hub assemblies, transfer case and engine oil changes and tire rotation.

What was the reason for the Hub replacement? A vibration, or howling noise from the front end? Did you replace the hardware as well?

Both hubs were noisy. Replaced all bolts associated with the hub/axel.

What kind of milage on truck? have an 06 with 105,000 original no noise. we had to replace on sons 07 with 125,000 but he was running oversized wheels aftermarket rims with more offset, which puts more load on bearing. you running stock or after market wheels.just wondering why a 2010 is worn out or very excessive miles ,just curious. they are very easy to replace about 30 min. per side, pull a couple youtube videos , unless bolts have been over torqued and you know it, I would not bother replacing, use blue loc tite and torque to factory specs you shold have no problems. just my 2 cents

96,000 on the truck. Took maybe 1.5 hrs. I replace the bolts as they were less than $12.

Bought the truck 2/11 with 65,000. Stock 20" tires. I use the truck as my everyday ride.

I had my '07 F150 in for a vibration in turns, and an intermittent howl in front end at 24,000 miles; the drivers side hub bearings were dry. It tends to rain 45" - 60" per year in central Arkansas, so the roads are always in disrepair and very abusive on a vehicle.

Thanks for the reply. I have 45,000 miles on my 2wd STX and it has a vibe in the front end, after replacing tires. If I am lucky, my hub bearings will be non-sealed, and I will be able to repack them.

If you use your truck like I do they dont last too long. But i drive through water deep enough to cover the hub which is bad but heck I bought a 4x4 to use it.
