2010 FX2 Door Lock-$300!?

So my door lock on the rear door on the drivers side is not working and I'm just 3K miles pass the warranty. The service guy calls and says "We need to replace the driver rear door lock actuator. Parts and labor total is $298.99."

I'm thinking that's an insane amount to fix the door lock. It'll lock manually but not with the remote or panel on the driver's side door. Should I do it myself? Take it elsewhere? Thoughts fellas?

At 3k past warranty I would put up a stink. In my experience most dealers will give you one warranty claim past the warranty when you are that close......

Ford does not like to do much for you after the warranty except want to sell you the extended warranty. They may offer to split it with you but their internal cost is way lower than "your part of the price split".
Just part of life in today's world. Check on the parts price and decide. May not be worth it to fix yourself or you may decide to leave it alone and live with it.
