Well, the old girl is gone! :(
I did it Saturday, traded my 97 F150 sportside for a 2010 F150 Lariat SCREW with just under 30,000 miles! Diamond white w/6-1/2' bed and ARE topper "pictures on the way soon" I will include pictures of my old girl she has been good for 17years bought new and built in June 1996 but it just started to having money eating issues in the last couple months but still got a good deal because of her looks and interior condition plus I got the 2010 from a local dealer and I knew the previous owner. Anyway I have a couple questions: The truck is Flex fuel and the previous owner never used E-85 I've not heard good things about using it mostly mpg issues and most of the complaints are even after switching back to regular gas the mpg never improves. Question number 2 is that since I installed a K&N filter on my 97 from day one and am a poster boy for it's performance and it has never used a quart of oil between oil changes up to the day I traded it at 170,000 miles, should I consider installing one in
my "new to me" 2010 SCREW? BTW, the money eating issues had nothing to do with the K&N i.e. AC compressor bearing, front end suspension, heater core leak and two front brake sensors this year! Thanks!

To post a pic, it must be hosted on the net, can't come straight from your harddrive. It can come from some site such as Photobucket or from an album on this site(in your Profile). You use the icon button, second from the right at the top of the posting box, once you have the pic url. Here is a thread with more extensive instructions.

Yea, I wouldn't waste my money on a K+N filter for this truck. You will not gain any power from it, in the rpm band you will drive this truck. The K+N was not the reason your truck got 170,000 on it. Your good maintenance and good driving style is what did.
You should be fine to run e-85 in that truck. I had the exact same truck and drove it 105,000 in 2.5 years, and I ran e-85 when it was about 40 cents/gal cheaper than 87 octane. That was about the break even difference figuring in the loss in mpg. I never had an issue with it not returning to its normal mileage when i quit running it. One thing I really liked about the e-85 was that it made it run better, because it is higher octane rating and the computer would bump the timing up and give you better acceleration. To me e-85 is a personal choice. Some people like it, and some don't. It won't hurt your truck at all, as it is made for it. If you want to try some, I would run your truck all the way down as low as you can, and fill it up full with e-85 and drive normally and see how it works for you. I noticed about 1.5 to 2mpg drop when I ran it, but I liked the performance.
Congrats on the new truck.
