Pin-out for Trailer Plug
 

I ordered the LED strip for the back of the truck but don't want to keep it plugged into the trailer hitch plug.

Where can I find a pin-out for the plug?

Open to other suggestions as well.

All of the newer FORD trailer wiring pinouts should be labeled on the actual plug.

in keeping the trailer wiring reliable. I would go up behind a taillight to tap in. I prefer to actually cut, push down heatshrink, solder. and then heat up heatshrink. with silicone over each end of the heatshrink.

its a bit better protected behind the light. I hate when I go with a buddy and they spend 3 hrs figuring out why their trailer lights don't work.

Great Idea

Exactly what I did for my Recon LED strip. Both the Recon plug and the Factory Ford plugs are labeled so you can tap into the factory wiring harness up under the rear of the bed (upstream of the bumper mounted connector). Much cleaner install AND you still have the factory plug available in case you are towing anything...plus (in my mind at least) it would look terrible to have to have your Recon strip plugged into the factory plug all the time. I went the extra step and encased the recon wires in the plastic wire harness cover and zip tied so nothing would move around/fray/short out. I used the wire tap connectors and wrapped each tap in black electrical tape to keep clean/dry.

i have to say if you drop the spear tire theres the wiring block and thats where i put mine, and i did the loom from checkers to protect the wires
