My Pirelli Scorpians Are Gone

I really hated the Pirelli Scorpians, so I traded them in on some Firestone Destination A/T. They are still P275/55R20, but they are about an inch wider (they look huge).

My driveway has a three degree incline and in 3/4 inches of snow, I had to go into four wheel drive to back up it with the Pirelli tires. They were also really slippery in the wet.

With the same 35 PSI of air pressure, the Firestones ride a bit rougher, but the truck is far more stable. Hopefully they will be much better in the snow.

My Pirelli tires had about 3,300 kms. on them and I paid an extra $298.32 CDN and drove away with my set of four Firestones. I think I did well.

The pirellis were one of the single worst tires I have ever experienced, particularly in the snow. I dont think I have ever read anything positive about them on this forum-you made a good choice.

Also, the forum gods demand photographic evidence of thy new tires!

Gerrard155,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm pleased that you agree with my choice. I certainly agree with your opinion of the Pirelli tires.

I'll see if I can get the photographic evidence taken care of.

Take Care

Hmm......never had any issues with pirelli's on my 06....except for flat spotting cause the truck sat all week....40,000 miles on them with plenty of tread left to go to 60,000 miles....

I too am not impressed with the Pirelli Scorpians. Ended up sideways on a overpass last week when it was icy. Traction control was on. Cant blame it totally on the pirelli's but never liked them anyways.
I always had super luck with firestones and have already looked at the Destination A/T.
Firestone's are my first choice of tires all day long! Don't care what consumer reports as the best.
Couldnt get near the deal you got, so i kept them.
I do have a set of bridgestone blizzak's on steel rims waiting for snow.

With only 6k miles on the ticker at this point, I'm less than impressed by the Scorps as well.

I wonder what the aftermarket sale potential is on these tires? I mean, they're $900'ish on tirerack.

I just can't imagine much at all with their reputation. Apparently Pirelli isn't too aware of what people think about this model tire or they just know that they are selling the name.

I have family connections with a 'nearby' tire shop. I may pick up the phone on Monday and see if they'd do anything for me. I know they'd like to sell a set of tires. I am partial to Michelin...

You can "trade in " your tires in Canada?

It was a huge improvement when I went from those Scorpions to a set of Michelin LTX ATs. I didnt have many miles on them when I traded my 09 for my 12, so I just had the dealer swap my rims/tires to the new one. Not to mention the new one had 18's on it vs. the 20's on my 09.
