End of MY Rebates

What's coming? Looks like nothing good out there. Tons of trucks on the lots near me, but they are not budging on price and no/crappy rebates. I got a 5k rebate when I bought my '05, what's going on here?

Bluejay 08-26-2011 11:46 PM

I thought the rebates were in place until October. I just got a great deal about 3 weeks ago.

unfortunately Ford is moving enough trucks with the lowest incentives of all manufactures. So, they have no reason to give money away. I feel you. When I ordered I could have locked in the incentives at $4,500 total (didn't do it, nor did the dealer tell me I was able to lock-in). When my truck was ready the incentives dropped to $3,000. New incentives roll out on Oct 4th, possibly they'll up the ante then?

This blows my mind. I would rake this dealer over the coals with Ford for losing me $1,500! What is so confusing is these rebates are from Ford, and in no way shape or form affect the dealer. Why would the salesman purposely go out of his/her way to screw you over? Unreal, sorry to hear about this.

The lesson to be learned is to do your homework, forums like this one are a truly invaluable tool, be YOUR best advocate because it looks like the dealer wont be. There are several threads sprinkled through these boards outlining how to go about buying/ordering a truck, if youre in the market do a search, get some coffee and read, read and read some more.

I am currently sitting at $3k on rebates, has been the best offered in my area for this MY. I expect my truck to be delivered prior to the 10/4 new incentives, but am very curious as to how it will turn out. With some new options/combinations being offered for the 2012 MY I would not be surprised if the rebates increase.

The higher your final ticket the more money they make...called commission.

Also pay real close attention to what they put in ads. First you write down their incentive discounts then if they don't have anything to match the ad you can start getting money taken off of yours with the excuse "I came here for THAT truck"

That is how we got around 5K off of mine. It is an easy thing to do that you should notice if you are a careful shopper.

May have been sales pitch but two different dealers told me that Ford was not out producing demand in 2011 like they did in 2010 for the purpose of not ending up with a huge inventory at model year end. Said the rebates would not go as high as last year because of it. The dealer where I bought still had 8 2010 F150s on 8/1/2011. They said they sold one occasionally to someone wanting a 5.4 rather than the 5.0 or EB. The rebates now may be as high as it gets, it will depend on the inventory level at Oct 1. They may delay the 2012 production, too. They are much more profit driven now, doing a better job of matching production with demand.

I got 7K in rebates in December 2008 on my 2008 F-150. Then I started negotiated... great deal.

Im glad I decided to buy 2 weeks ago. I got $8,500 off on my 2011 XLT scab 4x4 EB and $4,000 of that was rebates.

hydro1 08-27-2011 01:38 PM

^ where'd you get the extra 1k? According to Ford, you can choose 0% for 60months (roughly worth $3,300), $2000 rebate, $3000 with Ford financing. I know military is an extra $500, but we are still short?

Bluejay 08-27-2011 01:49 PM

July 29th, my sticker price was $37,230 and I got a total of $8,850 off. My Ford rebate was $4250 which did not include the $1,000 financing rebate as I paid for the truck. I did have a letter from Ford giving me an extra $750.

They produced a lot more 2010's last year because they KNEW the 2011 models would be very late in arriving. IN fact the first trucks did not even show up on the lots until November and EB wasnt readily available until after the new year. They dont have that excuse this year. Also I think a lot of people late last year were holding out for the 2011's because of the new engines.

You are right about some dealers still having 2010's. A couple months ago, I posted about a local dealer still having 2 2010's on the lot. Well, they are still there, and they will not budge on the price. STILL. They have had the trucks on the lot for about 16 months at this point.

You should have took the extra grand and paid it off in 3 months (91days). The interest on three payments is nowhere near $1,000. Unless there is a big difference per location (state/ county) Ford is not offering anything over $3k right now. Without your coupon it's $3500, so I'm guessing a military rebate was thrown in? My freaking coupon expired 10 days before taking delivery and Ford won't budge on giving it to me.

I did the finance and payoff when I bought my 05, did not want to mess with it this time. Just don't have the time to mess with it right now.

The $3500 was the rebate in this area for an XLT, no military. I think the rebate was less on the premium models. have no idea why, but that is what I was told.

hydro1 08-27-2011 04:31 PM

^ yep, you're right. The XLT was $500 higher, I forgot about that.
