I am about 4 to 5 tanks of gas on my eco & only been using 87. I have no issues with the 87 octane at all.

I'm running 93 for now. The manual says to use premium during hot weather or when towing. It ran ok on 87 but I wanted to see if mpg improved. Not much (about 19mpg) but my foot keeps pushing down hard on the right pedal. It's a lot of fun! I can see some speeding tickets in my future

I've got just at 11,000 miles on 87 and not had any problems with it at all. I've thought about using the better stuff but have never gotten around to trying it out. For now I'm happy to be getting a good 3-4 MPG better than my 5.4Ls would have.

Is that what the manual says? As many people say it says to run 87 at a minimum but recommends 91 or higher.

You can download a PDF of the owner's manual which states:

Your vehicle is designed to run on regular fuel with an octane rating of
87 or higher. For best overall performance, premium fuel with an octane
rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using
premium fuel will be most noticeable in hot weather or in severe duty
applications such as towing a trailer.

I have close to 900 miles on mine with 87 octane every fill up so far.I also raced down the 1/4 mile drag strip also on 87 octane.I'm very happy 2 weeks in a row filled up 18.29 mpg last week and 18.07 mpg this week hand calculated. The computer said 19.06 mpg last week and 18.93 this week.

Later Mark.

Plan on running 87. For me anything else is just wasting money.

At a $1.22 a litre for 87 its not worth the jump to 91 to save a few mpg.

Wookie,

I usually purchase Shell from Lonoke or 367 in Cabot. Where do you purchase your gas? I've had some minor pinging on hard acceleration the last few tanks.

I get it from the Shell at the HWY 5 exit when I'm in Cabot. But lately the gas stations in NLR and Sherwood have been much cheaper so I have been stopping at the Valero at I30 and Broadway or sometimes the Fina or Valero on Brockington.

With the EB I haven't noticed a difference in gas stations as much as I did with my 5.4L.
