Sync/Stereo/Nav frozen, any idea's?

Although I love the system, when I bought the truck with the Sync/Nav system I knew it would be a problem down the road. Just not this soon. Out of the blue today the entire system froze just like a computer does. The stereo worked on the station I was listening to but everyone of the controls on the system wouldn't work including the volume, on/off, backup camera etc.... I tried shutting the truck off and restarting it thinking it would reset the system and no luck. I'm stuck listening to 70's on 7 for ever! Any thoughts other than visting my dealer tomorrow?

disconnect the vehicle battery for 10 minutes...then re-connect. that might do the trick.

Yeah, assuming you have the 2011 F150, the Gen1-V3.2 SYNC software has some very serious problems. If restarting the truck doesn't fix it, you'll need to either disconnect battery, or pull the SYNC fuse for a few seconds & reinsert (the fuse is known as the "CTRL-ALT-DEL" in Microsoft lingo).

Also, I've found that if I keep USB devices connected when shutting off the truck, that SYNC will generally go insane when I next start the truck. Better to disconnect before turning off the truck...

Not sure if it makes a difference but it's a 2010. Is the Sync fuse with the other fuses? If it's locked up in the morning I can also go with the battery idea.

Check your owner's manual under Roadside Emergencies. IIRC it's No. 14 on the passenger side kick plate.

USB players do seem to cause issues. People seem to have better luck with quality (Kingston) USB flash drives/memory sticks.

Anyone heard of any sync updates that may fix or at least stabilize the 3.2 platform?

Nothing Yet - I have an account with syncmyride.com and supposedly there will be an email sent out to me when the update comes out. My dealer is also supposed to let me know as I have had my truck in for warranty service (Sync).

For the 2011 F150s:

I was told that they were going to backport a fix to the 3.2 SYNC software (their versioning numbers are a total mystery, btw) to fix the USB problem, but then they came back and told me that the problem was that my USB drives (Kingston 4GB & 32GB) were unexpectedly disconnecting, so they were at fault.

I really don't believe that the Kingston flash drives are at fault - really really really hard to believe that. I am hopeful that a new software version will be released for the 2011 F150s because SYNC is absolutely unstable with USB devices attached.

My system froze like that last summer when it was 100 outside temp, lost use of my controls but AC still worked on auto. Shut truck off restarted and once the interior cooled down it worked like normal. Took it to dealer and of course found nothing wrong. Hasnt froze since.

I have had a 2011 for 2 weeks now, and friday I must have done something to disable the bluetooth and was unable to get it back on, they actually had to take it back to the shop and have one of the technicians take care of the issue, guy said something about that it was still in the mode thats used when they transport the vehicle? Not sure if it was just BS or what, but I think they should be able to help you at the dealer, and instead of disconnecting the battery (which Im sure will do the trick) I would have the dealer take care of it just so you have some type of record.

I've had mine for about the same length of time and have also found that the Sync loses its Bluetooth connectivity -- it won't pair up with my phone again after the truck is shut off. (The bluetooth indicator on the Sync display does not light up either.) I've had to delete both the cellphone profile from the Sync and the Sync profile from the cellphone, then start over from scratch to pair the two. And then it's lost when I get in the truck the next morning to go to work. I hope this is a software issue that can get fixed soon.

FWIW...I've confirmed via syncmyride.com that I'm on the latest software level (by using the "verify level" downloaded app).

Almost 4 weeks with my new truck. I've had two days where sync hasn't worked at all. I didn't want to stop driving to pull a fuse.

I've tried an iPod touch and a handful of USB flash drives, and a portable hard drive. I've formatted each several times, changed music, fixes the few tags that were off, etc. I cant get this system stable.

It works about 10% of the time when I start the truck. Sometimes I can pull the USB drive, try to change to USB, wait until it says no USB device, plug it back in and try again and it works.

I don't know what else to do. We have a 2008 Edge with Sync that has had a few minor issues but works 99.8% of the time.

I cant believe that people aren't having issues. Either I just haven't found that magical USB flash drive yet or maybe my sync module is faulty.

Log on to SyncMyRide and check to see if any software updates exist for your vehicle.

Just go read my thread over here -- there is a problem with the 2011 Gen1-V3.2 SYNC software and USB devices:

http://fordsyncforum.com/index.php?/...bsod-gen1-v32/

There is NO FIX YET.

There is NO SOFTWARE UPDATE yet.

Will there be? I dunno... :|

I did the log on to sync. Didn't Do much. Downloaded the program like it says, with no joy. I-phone and I-pad still having issues. E mailed Sync, that was a waste. They said pull the fuse and restart everything. Did that still hit or miss. Have to wait for some kind of update
