~ 08 Flareside Bed Swap 2011!?

Talking with my wife the other day got me thinking...
If anything were to happen to my truck what would I get to replace it!?

I would love to buy a 2011 3.7L Ecoboost....BUT they no longer offer the flareside bed. Which I think is what makes the truck IMHO. OR the supercab w/5.5' bed (unless you get RAPTOR)

Is it possible to swap out the 2011 stock 6.5' bed for the Flareside bed from an '08?
I know for did it on the 2009's for a spell......my guess is that the 2011 is teh same measurements and all right!?

thanks

A couple of things. First, the ecoboost is a 3.5L motor, not a 3.7. Second, I have no doubt that a flareside will bolt right on in replacement of the stock bed.

I thought it might work.....has anybody done this swap yet?
Let's hope nothing happens to my truck, although I do see an EB in my future within the next few years.

(Yeah not sure why I typed 3.7L, I know better! LOL)

My previous truck was an 09 with the flareside long bed. I was just sick when it was totalled in an accident a few weeks ago. From what I've read, the only reason that there were a few 09's with the flareside bed was that Ford had some leftover beds from the 04-08 body style. I think your biggest issue would be locating a bed in good enough shape to want to put it on a new truck. Unless, of course, your existing truck has the bed you want and you are just looking to move it over to the new truck. I wasn't sure based upon your original post if you already had access to the bed.

Like you, I think the flareside bed really made the truck look great. I received alot of compliments on the truck because it was so "different"... It was flame blue with gray lower accent. Never saw another one before and haven't seen another one since. I looked all over the USA for a flareside 09 but couldn't find one anywhere when finding a replacement. Finally ended up with an 09 Platinum with the regular bed.

Good point on the Tailights....that should be an easy fix though.
The Rear Bumpers would have to be swapped too....good catch.

Very do-able though...bddo too bad your new truck has the 5.5 bed, else I would say you should do the swap.
