275/65/20 or 285/65/20

I've been debating between these two tire sizes (275/65/20 and 285/65/20) - BFG All Terrains

I have a 09 FX4 and I want to level it - measured the difference of front and back and the front is almost exactly 2 inches lower than the back. So I will need a 2 inch level kit. But I've heard that some get more than 2 inches of lift after all the angles are set so would that be the one to choose or go with like a 1.5 inch level or something.

But anyway the big debate is between the tires. I definitely want some more height but I am worried about rubbing. And the 285s will bring down my milage a little more so than the 275. Also the 275s are cheaper but do they proportional height to width? Does anyone have any pictures of either tires? Just need a good push to which tire to choose. Thanks!

i had 275s on my truck with a 2' level and a 3' block in the back. with the wider offset of my wheels it made for some rubbing but that wouldnt be a problem with stock wheels. the 285s would probably be taller than what youd really want. the 275s looked pretty large with just the level and im actually thinking of going with the 285 bfgs now that ive got the 4' rancho lift.

actually....now that i think about it, ive seen a few guys on here that have had the 285s with just a level and stock wheels and it didnt look bad. youd probably be fine going with either one, but the 275s would save you some coin.

Yeah that's for sure. The 275s would be cheaper and probably not look too much different.

You are talking about a difference in 10mm in width, and a total height of 34.1" (275/65) vs 34.6" (285/65). That 10 mm in width, and a whole half inch in height. With a level, don't sweat it, both will fit no problem.

I vote for 296/60/20 Nitto Trail Grapplers... http://www.nittotire.com/functions/t...=trailgrappler Them would look mean.....

Those would be solid but I'm leaning towards the BFG All Terrains. I heard with the Trail Graps you don't get as many miles out of them compared to the BFGs.

I am going to give my opinion here (and mind you that I have done A LOT of research and have previously ran 325/60/18's and 35/12.5/18 on stock rims with leveling kit) I have my new 2011 ordered...I will be putting a 2in AutoSpring leveling kit on and I am debating between 285/60/20 or 305/55/20. If I were you, I would not consider 285/65/20 if you are concerned with rubbing and/or mileage. The 305 is going to be like a 33.4 x 12. The 285 is more like a 33.5 x 11.5. I am really torn between these sizes, but it really boils down to tire choice. Now one more option is what my buddy has on his 2010 leveled Crew, and that is a 295/60/20.. which is like a 34 x 12. The only tires I have seen in this size though are the Nitto Terra Grapplers. And though I have ran those tires, and loved them, they just are not aggresive enough for me any more. I hope I have helped in some way. I will probably go with the 285/60/20

For Eva, I agree the TERRA graps are not aggressive enough, but the TRAIL graps sure are. Same sizes are available for both tires I believe.
