Ok, so I forgot - oops.

Still, my points are applicable.

The lower it is, I'd say yes. I know when my truck is at a 1/4 tank and I park on a hill, it will read "E" and kick on the low-fuel light. I need about 5-8 minutes of driving and it'll slowly work its way back up and shut off the light. On a full tank, it should move fairly quickly. Like someone jsut said, our tanks are not symmetrical. The top half is a different size than the bottom half and its got all sorts of bends, and things to accommodate 25 gallons of gasoline down a long, slender tank. I also believe this was a measure by Ford to prevent people from seeing how quickly they are eating gas. I know in some cars, if you go WOT, the fuel tank will start to move down to reflect your new MPGs and youre expected level at that current rate of draw. I think Ford made the fuel gauge less sensitive to that so it doesnt drop every time you punch it

In my old 96 F150 when the fuel gauge got down to 1/2 tank I'd make a left hand turn and it'd go to full and when I made a right hand turn it'd about go to empty

If you're parking on a hill it's normal for it to read different. I've noticed (on my 04) it usually takes about 10 mins to go back to normal.

fuel gauge

i have a 2012 fx4, 3.5 ecoboost, and if have had it between a 1/4 and 1/2 tank and started down a grade and it went from 178 miles to empty to 35, then 15, etc, its crazy, my titan never did this, and you know what i dont care what anyone says, if the gauge is on the truck then it should work proper or ford should re design it to work properly, i didnt pay this much for a truck to have gauges not work, i can understand 15 miles off but not over 100 thats bull crap...

Gas gauge not working and radio stopped working at same time

My 2010 F150 FX 2's gas gauge is malfunctioning and soon after the radio now blinks and won't play. Had it diagnosed and mechanic stated it was the fuel sending unit and the Fird dealership diagnosed some issue with the radio. Another mechanic told me that it might be an electrical problem in the dash to cause the radio and the gas gauge to go out. But he was just throwing out ideas. Is it electrical or could it be the fuel pump and sending unit?

Welcome to the forum, Acourt! Are you going to proceed with repair at the Ford Dealership? What's the current mileage on your truck? I want to see what I can do to help.

So how do you keep from spending your like savings on gas when it does it? I had issues with the battery and it started flipping out, after I put $20 in gas the gauge reads the same as if I hadn’t put anything in it at all
