Bad u-joint on a 2010 f150 already...

My truck is squealing from the back end.

I had my girl drive the truck while I walked beside it, and its clearly coming from where the pinion shaft and driveshaft meet..

if I spray lube on that area (u-joint and the plastic retaininer looking thing) , it goes away... for awhile..

Anyone else have this problem?

Umm.. That's not good.. I'd drop that bad boy off at the dealer and make them figure it out.

Crap, I hope that's not my problem. At very slow speeds, like driving in a parking lot, I hear squeeking every couple of seconds. I wasn't sure what it was but reading your email worries me. I too have a 2010 with just a little more than 5,000 miles.
I hope they don't give me crap about the leveling kit.

I got er' booked for thursday afternoon.

We will see what they say...

Sounds like a dried up u-joint...

Its only at low speeds....

Its actually more like a creek, or a cricket sound..

Anyways, I know its the universal, or the plastic retainer rubbing...

I lost that u joint on my '04 in 6300 miles, and it was not available from Ford (in '04) so I ended up getting a whole new driveshaft. So... a bad u joint is not out of the realm of possibility.

I have had no driveline issues with my'10, and I am up to 20k now.

I got it fixed today.

I got a new pinion flange out of it.

The plastic protector for the seal was all chewed...

I had pics, but I syned my phone and erased them accidently.......

So they gave me a new flange, and did the seal while they were there.....

Noise... Gone...

The grey plastic piece in the pic is what bit the dust... it was all chewed..

I wish I had the real pics to show how chewed that plastic retainer was....yuck..

They said it could have been a stone.....Anything really...

I have a hypothesesis..

When I was trying to figure out what the hell was squealing for myself, I stumbled upon a huge clump of harden(chrystalized) salt and sand right on top of the diff....

It was so hard, like rust chunks... I chipped it off around the flange..

I'm positive it was just build up...

Hope it doesn't happen again...

Thanks for the inquisitive chat fellers.
