5.0 SC'd VS 5.4 SC'd

Hey guys... I currently own a 2010 F150 FX2 5.4L truck. I will soon have my student loans paid off and will then be in a financial area where I can afford some go fast goodies for my truck... and was wondering if I would be better off waiting for a 2011 or 2012 5.0 to do this with. I was looking at numbers from the GT500 and the GT350.. and while the 5.0 made more HP, the 5.4 made more TQ (or so I remember). Or in the end is this a pointless debate as it's a tank of a truck and who cares if one is .5 seconds faster than the other? lol :D

You're actually considering trading a 5.4 2010 for a 2011 just for the engine change?

Why yes I am... I hate the same problems this 2010 has as my 2007. Sounds like a diesel because of the cam phasers. This 6 speed tranny really sucks too. I also have a front passenger seat that will not stop rattling (been to the dealer 5 times to fix it... the next "fix" they thought up was to shave down some of the tack welds) along with BOTH rear doors (supercab) rattling. If I were to get a 2011 it would be a regular cab short bed with the 5.0 and 2wd STX/XLT

Trade up for the 6.2 and then S/C it....Thats the route I would go anyway.

What dont you like about the 6speed if i may ask?

If you are really interested in putting a whistle on it, it will likely be a while before there is a kit for the 11' F150, but there will likely be more options than there are for the 09-10's because I doubt anyone else is going to do any aftermarket support for the 5.4l.

And I agree the 6 speed sucks.

Your dealer ground down welds on your seat? Wow, hope that truck is never involved in an accident.

One should be able to fit the supercharger kit for the Mustang on the F150 with little modification.

The dealer hasn't ground any welds yet... That was their next "answer" to the problem... Needless to say but I'm going to have to live with the rattles unless I can fix it myself. The 6 speed never knows what gear it needs to be in and takes forever to shift sometimes. I can't get the 6.2 either because if is switch it would be to a regular cab. Anyways... Any idea how these two engines compare sc'd?

The new 5.0's are going to have lots of potential.... If you have the option do it.

Hell if i didn't like my truck so much I would sell it and start modding a 11 or 12 with a 5.0...

My take:

1. Give the new engines 2-3 years in the trucks before making the plunge. Let someone else learn the expensive issues and give Ford time to fix the bugs. With 65k miles on my 09, I'm learning that there are issues...
2. 6 speed transmission has a ton of potential, and I'm sure by 2012 the engineers will have it dialed in.

Yea.... that's probably the best route. However you guys know how hard it is to NOT mod your truck.. and I'd hate to end up with a bunch of useless 5.4 parts..
