Hope this works for the FX4 owners!

I just ordered a Raptor 4X4 switch, hoping I can lock my diff in 2 wheel drive! The raptor, f-250, and f-350 allows you to lock the rear end in 2 wheel drive. The f-150 has to be in 4 wheel drive to lock the locker. The part will be at the dealer in three days. I will let everyone know how it works out. If it works I will do a write up on how to install it. I'm sure its the switch not allowing us to lock it in 2 wheel drive but we will see. I'll keep everyone posted!

FX4 owners stand by...:beers:

Sweeeeeet.... how much was the switch?

formuladriver01 09-30-2010 09:32 PM

I have a hook up at wynne ford. They ordered the switch for me and is going to let me install it. If it works I pay 20 bucks. If it does not they will send it back. I really hope it is going to work out!

If it work, all it would be missing now is a little ecu tuning so you can keep it lock at higher speed.

20 dollars is all I will pay. I don't know how much list price is. Dealer price is usually more than list price. It's so th dealer can make a profit on selling the part to you. Depending on the dealer price and if this works I can mass order the switch and sell them to anyone with an FX4 not wanting to pay dealer price. First I need to make sure this will work though! Like I said the part should be here Monday or Tuesday of next week. I should have it in by Friday at the latest. Stay tuned!

That would be awesome if it worked! I'll be going to the dealership soon if that's the case. If not, we could just run a toggle switch back to the e-locker. Sure, there it might not tell the PCM to adjust for it, but you could have it locked for any speed. :coffee:

Not sure i would want it locked at any speed though, more prone to breaking something. But since were in this topic, does anyone know if you changed gears if you would loose the locke? Arnt the gears part of the ford factory locker?

With the locker, it only works at speeds less than 25mph. My guess this is computer controlled and will remain the same with the new switch. I also would not be surprised if the locking is also computer controlled and it will not allow it if not in 4wd. Only a guess though.

The locker is part of the differential. The gears come in two pieces the ring gear and pinion gear. The ring gear bolts to the differential. The differential has the locker in it. Since changing gears screws with the speedo and odo reading we almost have to get a tuner to adjust for the gears. Otherwise the computer might disable the locker at a higher or lower speed because the computer still thinks it has the 3.73's.
