WHY so expensive, Ford?
Yeah, I mentioned that before. What an astronomical price for some wheels. Holy cow. And I think they're chrome, not even the polished aluminum ones the Plat gets standard. No idea why they are SO expensive...
I'd be interested to see some real world pics myself, and hear how well, or not, they hold up. |
yeah, member todd01 posted his oem 22's on his Platinum, here's his album:

Not impressed at all. If there was one thing I could've cared less about when I was buying my truck it was the OEM wheels. I knew I was going aftermarket anyway for the summer and use my OEM's for the crappy New England winters.

Thanks, Steve.
Not sure I care for them, either. They almost look a bit fake, certainly compared to the standard Plat wheels. The standard wheels look expensive, and those others, well they sure are shiny but like the typical chrome wheels you see a lot of people throwing on their vehicles to try to make them look expensive but they just end up looking a bit goofy. Not sure I care for them really. Those pics made it a lot clearer to me, thanks! |
I'm not sure what Ford or any other auto manufacturer were thinking when they do stuff like this. It's bad enough they lost major amounts of money for years by not offering attractive options for accessory wheels to compete with the aftermarket wheel industry and when they finally do they are 2 1/2 times the price of aftermarket wheels. I wanted the factory look so I tracked down my ford accessory wheels for a really good price but I would not have paid more than the going rate for aftermarket wheels, too many options in that department. Obviously Ford (and everyone else) aren't thinking quantity when they try to sell these wheels. Here is a pic of my 22" Ford wheels, paid 840 for the set shipped (not including tires which I purchased locally).http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ie/F150003.jpg
These go for 3300+ at the dealer, I was able to get them for less than half that amount. |
been wanting to see those 22's on a truck, hard to tell what they look like in the build and price on ford.com
not even close to be worth the asking price IMO |
If you look at them on Tasca, the cost is $3308, and includes OE tires.
