Post TSB's here

Hey guys we should make this a sticky, I know we have a lot of Ford Techs. on here so why not use there knowledge and have them or anyone with access to Ford TSB's for our trucks post them here.

TSBs for Free?

I am a former Ford Heavy Truck Tech......back in the day of the Louisville....and TSB books were put on the top of our toolboxes every month when they were published........we even had to write a stupid exam at the end of the month to make sure we even looked at them?
I must admitt I cheated on the Automotive questions as I never worked on anything smaller the an F-600.....Kudos to the Auto Techs in the shop
I hope Ford doesnt want the stupid little gifts back after I passed them all each year due to my cheating?
I got a real nice Ford Cooler Bag?.....est value $1.99
........................Flexible Flashlight..est value $0.99..Batts not incl.
the rest are too insignificant to remember...?????

So I know the TSBs are out there.......all it would take is someone to scan the F-150 portion of them and post them here but sadly....there is money to be made selling them online?.......there are a few "Teaser" ones around but they are old.

Yeah, they want you to pay for them so you don't go to your dealer when see a tsb for your vehicle to get it fixed even if you are not having an issue yet. Or in my case, on my '04 screw I didn't know about the 3rd brake light leaking until it was out of warranty and they wanted me to buy a replacement lens. I told them I will fix it myself. TSB's or not recalls and don't have to be fixed when out of warranty. :(

Here the TSB for SYNC mic replacement.

You can subscribe to the TSB's for $22/mo. or $100/yr. through the Motorcraft website if you absolutely must desperately read the cutting edge ones on everything. :)

Well this is not a tsb I dont think but I have the shutter you guys talk about and my ford dealership ordered an UPDATED torque converter that supposidly just came out. When travelling at speeds of 30 to 40 in the last gear it starts shaking(shuttering)pretty bad, the whole truck and if you have you will know what I am talking about. The service writter and the shop foreman drove it and got it to do it in my 2010 f150 4x4 screw. They said they called ford and ford said the new converter is coming out so I waited a month or close to it now and it goes in monday morning to have it changed out.

Its definetely not cutting edge when you build something that doesnt work as designed and you dont inform your customers about it?.....Just look at the steps Toyota took to keep their failures covered up?

Im not suggesting Ford did anything like that but they should stand behind their products as designed instead of staying hush about it?

As a former Heavy Truck Tech at a Ford Dealership I have seen some of these TSBs as nothing more than to get the Vehicle past the warranty period......If anyone doubts my claims.........go find the 1986 Areostar rear axle seperation TSB and see that patch job that was performed........lets just say it included 3/16" plates and pop rivets as big as my pinkie finger.......lol

I would love to see a Ford Tech on this website scan and post the failures for all of us to see?

WayneByrom Apr 17, 2010 02:19 AM

Its nice to see a tech that actually cares about their work or should I say the shotty work that you have seen being done to peoples trucks or cars. Way to go... :rocker:
And maybe they will post a tsb for the rearend of the trucks sticking out farther on one side or the other. Don't hold your breath.

That's the problem with making TSB's public and free. A TSB isn't a "this is a mistake in all vehicles that we're trying to cover up unless someone complains specifically about it." It's more of a "we have seen this problem in a significant enough number of vehicles to warrant developing a specific procedure for fixing it."

I just still don't see why people whine about the TSB's not being free. You can pay like $11 for a 72-hour subscription and read them to your heart's content. Or you can spend the $20 every month to be up to date on them all. But I guess when you've bought a $30k+ truck that extra $11 really breaks the bank. :)

I have said this before - some people see TSB's as a sort of Windows Update - if there is a TSB about X issue then clearly I need to get that "update" applied even if I'm not experiencing that issue yet.

It would be one thing if the TSB's were absolutely NOT available to the general public, but they are, and for reasonable cost, so I'm not sure why people complain about Ford "hiding" them.

You can't really compare Toyota's issues to Ford. That was a widespread problem affecting many models and hence it became a recall. A TSB isn't severe or widespread enough to be a recall. Just imagine if Ford made a big public release of every TSB as they wrote them - people would be flocking to the dealership in hordes, complaining of problems they mysteriously hadn't experienced before the TSB was issued.

There is another forum on the web with a TSB section for almost every ford in recent years, you only need to be a member to get full access to them so why not have one on our site!

Yes, except the 2009 F-150 etc.

And statsman: I agree with everything you said.

So for those of you with the 2010's.. When you look up at the headliner between the drivers visor and center storage for sunglasses, you see a piece of plastic on the headliner. Is this the alternate external sync microphone.

I know i have looked at the trucks in the lot to see differences. I noticed this piece the other day, but was unaware what it was. My 2009 does not have a little piece of plastic there.

Anyone with a 2010 that goes and looks at their truck and see's this should take a pic if they have the chance. Just curious to see if that's what it actually is or not.

Has anyone experienced this problem as described in the TSB?

StickyF150.
Mine is a 2010 with the mirror mounted mic. I do have the described problems. I have not been able to use my phone for about a month and half. What you are seeing on the lots are the newest 2010's with the fix from the factory. I put my truck in the shop two weeks ago and they tried to order the replacement mic and were told it is back ordered from the vendor and Ford doesn't even have any in stock. So now I have to wait who knows how long for it to come in.

Be sure to let us know once you get the fix for the in mirror mic to the headrest one what the difference is... I will admit that i do hear of feedback and road noise from people i talk to on the phone, but it is far superior than the aftermarket system i was using in my 06'...

Keep us updated!

I'm not aware of the site you're talking about - if it has what you want, just join over there, right? No sense in duplicating information.
