Normal F-150 w/ Plow....who say's no?

Thought this was interesting....

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...s/DSCF1372.jpg

It's a Xlt chrome package Crewcab 6.5' box 4x4 with normal 6 lug wheels so no HD package....

And I am 99% sure that it says in the manual that only F-150's with the HD package can have a plow yet they show the above truck with a plow and a big V-blade plow at that.....so either it has changed or who ever is doing the marketing/advertising for this ad needs a boot up there azz.

i dont think you can even get a 7700 package in a four door truck

johnwill Mar 13, 2010 04:27 PM

Yes, I hear you. I think they chose the wrong truck depiction to match the program.

And, I think the picture itself, notwithstanding that maybe they should not even be showing that truck model, is Photoshopped.

If you look closely at that plow, even though it's a v-plow, it's a toy. That said, it won't weigh much at all. Personally, I wouldn't trust that plow to do my driveway.

SteveVFX4 Mar 13, 2010 04:42 PM

there's a couple of trucks near me that have regular plows, one is a XLT and the other is actually a Platinum.

I guess you missed the part on the right that says "Get retail truck incentives PLUS upfit assistance".

On the lower left corner it says "F150 Crew Cab with plow Upfit".

You know know that I look at it again it does look to be photoshopped in. IMO that is misleading and bad advertising on there part.

Actually I didn't, "Upfit assistance" & "plow Upfit" is referring to the plow, wiring, lights and mount, etc that you get a discount for. As you are "upfiting" your truck w/ a plow. Form the inside of the ad "Available on upfits costing 1,200 or more. Take new retail delivery from dealer stock by 7/31/10. It Does Not change anything with the trucks front suspension or axle ratings of the truck.

Either way if it states one thing in the manual and then you print an ad showing something else hoping that the guy reading it won't be the wiser is a poor way of doing it.

But like SteveVfx4 said he has seen regular F-150's with regular plows and so have I. Can an F-150 handle a plow?, you bet.... but I would not want a #800 pound plus v-blade hanging on the front end of it as shown in the pic

Max tow package will bring you up to the 7700 lbs package, you might be thinking of the 8200 lbs package with the 7 lug wheels. I have a 4X4 SCREW with 4 doors, max tow package and it is rated for 7700 lbs.

Ah, before 2004 the heavy duty F-150 had a GVWR of 7700 lbs, then in 2004 they bumped it up to 8200lbs for the heavy duty

That's what he must have meant.

Most plow dealers are hesitant to install a plow on a 1/2 ton truck because of the liability of something going wrong and them being blamed for it.

Also with the way that truck is set up there's no way they would install a V plow on it. Even a ploy V like that.

The blade looks like a newer model Boss Power V XT. The problem is that no manufacturer uses that style of lights. They are all rounded out now. Also all the new V blades have flared ends to improve rolling of the sides. There is no way that plow is actually attached to that truck and the lights don't line up properly.

think that plow can stop a run away Prius?

wisconsinFX4 Mar 14, 2010 03:24 AM

that plow pic totally looks like a photoshop job...i have see plows on a lot of half tons around here, but most have some sort of suspension....

The manual is not clear on this but I think they mean the SuperCrew is not recommended for plowing straight from the factory because it does not come with a snowplow prep package. However, if you have a SuperCrew with a 5.4 and 4 wheel drive, you may upgrade to the snow plow prep package at the dealer and obtain the programming at the dealer.
