drove my new 2011 f150 home tonight

the truck came with a tow package...but in a bag sitting in a pocket on the door was the wire and connector pieces with whats looks like a relay or fuse that goes into the fuse panel..

should the dealer have installed this??

the truck is going back on wed, because they are replaceing the whole front grill. It had maybe 20 plus dings and scratches from what looked like following a gravel truck...or following a truck on a gravel road!!

guy tried to have one of his mexicans buff it out... i think they burned the chrome....or wore it through...either way... I wanted a new grill period.

truck drove great..now to figure out how to work everything..

anyone got a clue on the harness peice sitting in the door pocket?

I will call tomoorow when i get a chance and ask them, but I figured id ask here first.

That's the relay to charge the trailer battery and the harness for a brake controller.

Ford has provided the bag with relays for trailer battery charging and trailer brakes and brake controller pigtail since at least 1997. If you don't need it, leave it in the glove box.

hmmm I bought my 2002 F150 FX4 brand new and it didnt come with that harness.

but ill keep it in a safe place..

I just traded in my 2002 and I gave them everything i got when i got the truck new...all the paper work , instructions, warning labels, extra peices what ever..... I don think they cared, because they are just gonna wholesale it out...but the next guy who buys it might appreciate it all...

Odd. My brother's 97, my 99, and my 03 came with them, all purchased new. Not sure my bro ever used his, but both my 99 and 03 have Prodigy controllers for towing trailers with electric brakes. Those parts were needed.

Anyway, congrats on the new truck! I love the new F-150's.
